Driscoll takes new IBF crown
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
August 28, 1910 Jem Driscoll (1/CH) (37-6-1) scored a TKO10 over Cal McCarthy (2/2) (17-4) (mccarthy at pre) to win the new IBF Featherweight crown. This will be Driscoll's second title reign after his first ended with the stunning SD loss to Jimmy Briggs. Driscoll controlled this fight from the start dropping McCarthy in the 3rd round. He pitched a near shutout and finally dropped McCarthy again in the 10th and then stopped him later in the round. I had it 89-81. So did Javier Flores at ringside. On the undercard LW - Dave Holly (13/12) (17-6-8) KO7 Paddy Sullivan (57/58) (9-10) (sullivan at pre) LH - Leo Houck (19/16) (21-11-2) UD10 Dan Flynn (21/24) (12-8-2) LW - Austin Gibbons (19/19) (22-19-4) DRAW10 Billy Barrett (41/38) (14-11-6) (barrett stepped up to LW for this fight) LH - Jim Jeffords (36/18) (14-13) TKO9 Al Weinig (4/19) (13-12-1) (loss finally puts Weinig out of the top 10) HW - Syd Hughes (club) (11-12-2) TKO5 Heriberto Rojas (club) (9-13-2) (club fight) *** note *** ends the month |

End of August 1910
Five title fights in August. Jack Johnson was the only champ to lose his title.
Gans and Coulon had fairly easy title defenses. McAuliffe and Driscoll both won vacant titles. The featherweight division became the second division to crown an IBF Champ. Heavyweight division is 3 ranked fighters away from having a WBO champ. As a side note I've decided that the WBO title will be an equal to the other 3. The IBO title will be the world champ of the under 30 fights regional champs. So all the regional champs will be eligible to fight for the IBO title and keep their regional title. The IBO champ will be eligible for a world title but will have to give up both the IBO and their regional title if they win. No prime fighters will be allowed to contend for these titles. The WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO title will now start ranking other champs. IBO rankings will be immaterial since only regional title holders can fight for this title. Fighter movement from the fight cards (up to main unless noted) HW - Paddy Ryan (9-14-2) down to club, Charlie Richardson (10-0-3), Gunboat Smith (10-0) LH - Gunner Moir (9-14-1) down to club WW - Jimmy Conley (10-3) LW - Jim Smith (10-1-2), Billy Edwards (21-21-4) BW - Ned Morris (5-10-2) Debut Rankings HW - Frank Herald (10-4-1) (18) HW - Jack McCormick (11-4) (13) LH - Howard Morrow (12-3) (7) MW - Jeff Clarke (13-2) (27) MW - Walter Coffey (11-4) (23) WW - Pat Farley (10-5) (18) WW - tom McAlpine (12-3) (13) LW - Horace Leads (13-2) (24) LW - Joe Ellingsworth (13-2) (28) FW - Jimmy Hill (11-3-1) (45) FW - Yankee Schwartz (12-2-1) (28) BW - Walter Croot (10-2-3) (24) BW - Jimmy Barry (13-2) (14) BW - Joe O'Leary (8-5-2) (33) monthly fights attached Last edited by mh2365 : 04-15-2007 at 08:07 PM. |

Then there will be the 4 main world titles WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO. There has to be 8-10 ranked for WBA, 30 ranked for the WBC to come into play, 60 ranked for IBF and 100 for the WBO. The regional titles are only for pre-prime fighters. So once they hit prime they are no longer eligble. The IBO title will be only for fighters who hold regional titles. So it's the big title for the pre-prime guys. In order to fight for it the fighter has to hold a regional title. So there will only be 3 to 4 guys in contention for it. It won't be fought for more than once or twice a year. |

Self Congratulations - Happy Anniversary to me
Started the LBA and this thread two years ago today. I for one did not think I would stick with it this long. I don't think I've gone longer than 3 days in that span without playing it.
Also the only time I play TBCB is with my universe. From the humble beginnings I now have over 800 active fighters (not including TC's). I almost done with my 11th year. At this rate I should get to 2000 in another 20 or so years .Thanks to everyone who has posted and paid attention to this thread it definitely helps keep me interested. |
