Congrats Mike on making it this long. This universe has been high quality since the beginnning, here's hoping you make those next 20 years to 2000.

I'm taking O'Brien, Greggins, Ketchel, Attell, and of course Herrera in the title fights. So whats your breakdown on Aureilo's fight are the odds in his favor.

I think he'll be alright in this one, he tends to lose to slick boxers. His loses have been to Attell x2, Griffo x2, Driscoll x2, and Young Corbett. The only loss that was different was a loss to Eddie Hanlon. Chambers is a brawler ... 9 HP so he should stand and trade.

Well thats good to hear, I don't know much about this older cats so I to check and see what kind of fighter Chambers was. It's good to hear that he's a brawler and not the slick boxer. Looking forward to Herrera making a successful defense.

As I said before thanks to everyone who pays attention to this it keeps it interesting. Hopefully we are all still watching this thread years from now. That would be good news for the company and all of us personally.

O'Brien wins LH title for the 5th time

September 5, 1910

Jack O'Brien (1/CH) (26-5-1) won his 5th LH title taking the WBC version with a UD15 over John Donaldson (CH/6) (18-12).

This was a one-sided and boring fight. No cuts, swellings or knockdowns the whole way. O'Brien won 6 out the first 7 rounds and never looked back.

This was the 5th time O'Brien has won a piece of the LH pie, the most he has been able to defend it before losing it has been 3 times. He will be one who has an opportunity to move up at the end of the year.

I had it 147-141. Mark Somogyi, ringside, had it 147-140. The official judges had it 144-142??/147-140/147-140.

On the undercard

LW - Sam Bolen (18/15) (15-12-1) UD10 Jem Carney (65/66) (20-16) (carney at post, this was his chance to move back into contention)

FW - Fred Delaney (72/70) (9-8-1) MD10 Eugene Hornbacher (69/72) (11-8-1) (both at pre)

HW - Bill McKinnon (40/37) (14-6) KO1 J. Pickett (72/78) (9-9-1) (pickett at pre)

Sad day in the LBA, I'll post the results when I get home tonight (computer willing) but word out of Mexico is that Arthur Chambers scored a KO over champ Aurelio Herrera.

Herrera loses title again

September 12, 1910

Arthur Chambers (7/CH) (17-3-1) was thought to be tailor-made for Aurelio Herrera (CH/9) (20-9) since he would stand and trade with the champ. In the early going it appeared to be the case as Herrera easily won the first 5 rounds of the fight and knocked Chambers down in the 3rd.

In the 6th, however, Chambers caught Herrera and dropped him. Herrera struggled to his feet and lasted the round, but he never recovered. He went down again in the 7th and then down for good in the 8th. Chambers became the new WBA Lightweight champ with the KO8.

I had it 65-65 at the time of the stoppage.

On the undercard

FW - Jack Downey (35/16) (13-7) TKO5 Young Pluto (7/20) (17-2) 38-38 (pluto at pre)

HW - Ed Martin (45/33) (22-15) TKO4 Marvin Hart (71/79) (17-16-4)

LH - Yank Kenny (23/26) (8-8-4) DRAW10 Jack Beauscholte (44/44) (8-11-3) (kenny at pre)

FLY - Jim Donald (5/3) (10-7-1) UD10 Joe Gates (UR) (13-1) 98-93(both at pre)

MW - Tommy Chandler (club) (18-22-2) TKO4 Jim Hall (club) (18-20-2) (both at post in this club fight ... Hall blows a chance to move back up to main)

Sorry about the wait on that last post ... I've been having some computer mouse problems (still not fixed) and I was actually a little disheartened by Herrera's loss. If it's this bad with a guy I have never even heard of how am I gonna take it when it's Arguello?
