if you started from the beginning that was alot of reading. One of these days I need to do that just to see how it progressed over the 2 years.

I'll check on Ledoux when I get home tonight and see how he is doing.

I know that there is no way I'm going to bet against him. I'm taking Demspey to win the IBF title Tournment and then to lose the belt in his first defense. I'm really looking forward to Langford/Jackson and Klaus/Ryan title fights.

Ledoux is 10-0 and just moved into the main division. As long as he stays undefeated he'll fight lesser fighters until he gets into position for a title shot.

Ryan is still at prime so I think he'll take Klaus fairly easily. Jackson/Langford should be a good one. I wouldn't bet against Dempsey either he has a pretty easy path to the title fight, but his record in title fights has been woeful. Undefeated still in non-title bouts though.

Langford goes down twice and still sort of got robbed

October 1, 1910

Sam Langford (25-6-2) retained the WBA and WBC Heavyweight title with a Majority Draw against Peter Jackson (1/1) (33-6-2).

Langford was down twice in the bout yet everyone at ringside and in the stands felt he won a clear decision. The first five rounds were very close but I gave the edge to Langford at 2-1-2. Langford dominated the 6th and 7th and then was knocked down in the 8th.

He recovered nicely and won the 9th round. The 10th was close and Langford won the 11th. Langford went down again in the 12th, but didn't seem too hurt and the round ended with Langford only trailing by 7 points. I called it a 10-8 anyways. They split the 13th and 14th. Then Langford nearly stopped Jackson in the 15th.

I saw it 143-142 Langford. T.C. Dale ringside had it 144-141. The official judges, however, saw 142-142/142-142/143-142.

On the undercard

HW - Jim Dwyer (44/34) (26-11-1) UD10 Arthur Schock (UR/33) (11-3-1) (shock at pre)

MW - Johnny Douglas (UR/30) (12-1-2) UD10 Tom Henry (46/51) (7-6-2) 97-94(both at pre)

LW - Harry Lyons (6/5) (32-15-1) TKO7 Tommy O'Keefe (40/44) (10-6-1) (o'keefe at pre)

FW - Tommy Connelly (56/49) (13-8) UD10 Tommy Love (59/68) (10-6-3) (love at pre)

HW - Syd Hughes (club/65) (12-12-2) KO5 Tom Hinch (club/retired) (11-21-4) (hinch at end for this club fight, retired at the end of the fight, hughes moves back up to main with the win)

Well he only showed up for maybe 5 out of the 15 rounds. I thought he lost the fight outright, but he got a draw so I'm not sure how mad he should be.

Klaus gets his revenge on Ryan

October 5, 1910

Frank Klaus (CH) (19-6-1) avenged one of his losses with a stunning and dominating TKO15 over Tommy Ryan (8/12) (39-3-1).

Ryan fought well the first half of the fight ending the first 7 with the fight even. But Ryan's right eye started swelling in the 4th and his conditioning sold him out as Klaus started staying outside and sharpshooting Ryan.

Klaus took the next 3 rounds and Ryan mounted one last effort winning the 11th. Ryan lost the 12th then went to the canvas in the 13th. He barely got out of the 14th and then was dropped 3 times in the 15th before the ref finally stopped it with just :12 left to go.

I had it 136-130 at the stoppage as did Mirco Mizera, the ringside expert.

On the undercard

WW - Jack Willis (42/39) (13-10-1) KO8 Honey Mellody (29/34) (18-16-1) 68-64 (the ratings may reflect the fact that Mellody was dominating the fight before he got caught with one shot)

LW - George Lavigne (6/4) (29-13-1) UD10 James Curran (35/38) (11-7) (curran at pre)

FW - Sammy Kelly (56/50) (12-10-1) UD10 Kid Broad (76/76) (14-9-1) 95-94 Kelly

LW - Kid Cleveland (UR) (7-3-2) UD8 Johnny Allen (UR) (7-1-1) 77-77 (both fighters at pre for this club fight ... another unbeaten blows an easy one)

FW - Kid Bebee (club) (4-14-1) TKO5 Black Griffo (club) (6-18-2) (bebee stepped up to FW for this club fight)

Well damn, didn't see that coming. Ryan finally climbs back to the top just to get hammered by a guy, he'd already blasted wow. Wonder what Ryan is going to do now.

After this fight I did decide that I am going to do the same check I do for retirement at the end of the year to see if some guys go post-prime.

Gans defends title

October 9, 1910

Joe Gans (CH) (33-4-3) scored an easy UD15 over Tommy West (4/4) (17-6-2) in defense of the WBC Welterweight title. The WBA was not on line in this fight. It was Gans 4th defense of the WBC.

West hung around for the first 6 rounds coming out even. West even managed to start a little mouse under Gans right eye. Gans took the 7th through the 9th, including an 8th round knockdown. West then mounted one last attack taking the 10th and the 11th, before Gans took off winning the final 4 rounds.

I had it 145-139 as did ringside expert Rob Morris. The official judges saw it 144-140/146-138/143-141.

On the undercard

LW - Battling Nelson (33/23) (23-15-1) TKO8 Eddie Hanlon (13/21) (12-7-1) 68-65 Nelson at the stoppage

HW - Tom Allen (52/39) (22-14-1) TKO6 Jack Lester (40/56) (14-2-1) (lester at pre)

HW - Billy Woods (57/51) (16-13-2) TKO8 William Schiller (97/100) (13-10)

HW - Frank Mantell (7/6) (18-5) UD10 Harry Smith (52/67) (13-5-2)

HW - Pat Killen (UR) (7-2) KO2 Ranji Burns (UR) (5-3-1) (both at pre in this club fight)

Mike:

I think you may have mentioned this before, but I am too lazy to search. What are the aging ranges that you are using?

I have:

1-4
10-25
20-60
10-20
8-20

Fighters will have 49 to 129 pro bouts. I have no idea what the end distribution will look like but at present, it seems that most are jumping up at the lower end of the ranges which is good. I hope that getting over 100 bouts will be a small group.

Have you had anyone go to the farther end of an aging range yet?

Thanks,

Christopher

Without looking I believe mine are set at

5-8
15-22
20-35
5-25
5-25

range of 50-115 ... I also have random retirements so I can't see too many making it to 100 fights. I have yet to have anyone change from pre-prime to prime or prime to post. But I have had several change from beginner and from post to end and from end to retire.

In my uni when they change from post to end or end to retire they have a chance to go back if they have won 6 out of their last 10 fights.

They only thing I'm thinking of doing is lowering the pre-prime stage to 10-17.
