July 14, 1911

Jake Ahearn (11/6) (15-0-1) scored a TKO10 over Bill Brooks (UR) (12-1-1) for his first defense of the CBU Middleweight title.

Ahearn lost the first round then never looked back, dominating the rest of the way. Brooks was cut over the right eye in the 5th and it was reopened several times before the ref finally stopped the fight in the 10th.

Billy Papke (2/CH) (23-4) scored a UD15 to avenge a TKO1 loss to Stanley Ketchel (CH/2) (29-8) and win the IBF Middleweight title.

Papke controlled the fight from the 5th round on as he dropped Ketchel twice in the 5th. Both of Ketchel's eyes started to swell then also. Ketchel won a few rounds after that but mostly it was Papke in control.

Ketchel went down again in the 9th. The referee was obviously paid off by Papke as Papke was allowed to cheat all night. He recieved 6 warnings but was never docked a point. Ketchel was docked a point in the 13th without any warnings at all.

The commissioner didn't order a mandatory rematch because the docked point didn't effect the outcome.
