"When They Were Kings" Updated
After a lengthy layoff and much consideration, I decided to pick up right where I left off with "When They Were Kings". The site has been updated to July 5th, 1931.
Some of you may remember that the last update featured the story of Tuffy Griffith's improbable upset victory over Max Schmeling to win the World Heavyweight Title. I then ran a poll here in this forum to have you all decide who Griffith's opponent should be for his first title defense. Young Stribling was the winner of the poll. So, check out the news section of the site to read the announcement concerning that. Also, the tournament to crown a new World Middleweight Champion (vacant since Mickey Walker relinquished the crown) is now down to 4 fighters. Find out who has advanced. The World Rankings are all up to date and you can also see many other fight results on the "Fight Results" page. You can check it all out here: When They Were Kings Thanks, Mark Last edited by Mark42661 : 08-20-2004 at 03:18 AM. |

Fantastic to see you and your universe going strong Mark. Len Harvey will definitely win the middleweight crown, he could even get the LHW one if Slattery ever chooses to defend it. I'm barracking for Tuffy in his first defense, everyone deserves to get an easyish first defense and we didn't give it to him.
