I just decided to use it this year because the only guys that were retiring were crappy fighters ... had to come up with a system where good guys retired also. Just didn't expect it to cost me Dempsey in the first year ... LOL

Yeah, it's a bummer about Dempsey. All credit to you though for sticking to it. Any chance of a comeback?

Yeah I decided at the end of 1 year, any forced retirements with a winning record will have a 50% chance for a comeback. If that fails then at the end of the second year they have a 25% chance. After that they are done.

When they comeback they will re-retire upon their first loss, providing it isn't in a title fight.

Patsy Haley calls it quits

January 1908

Patsy Haley decided it was time to retire after a 3rd round KO at the hands of Ike Weir.

Haley could never get his career on track and quickly dropped to the club ranks and became just an opponent or stepping stone.

His wins came against Joe Bowker, Frankie Neil and Ike Weir (just 6 months prior).

As in real life he will become a referee.

Hess started at the beginning of 1901 and won his first fight against Johnny Woods. That was the high point of his career as he never won again.

Bill Slavin suffered a second round KO to Geoffrey Thorne (17-19-2) and decided it was time to hang it up.

Slavin finishes with a record of 3-22-2. While his career got off to a good start with a MD10 over Jack Burke in his second fight, it never got any better. He lost his next 8 fights and dropped to club in May of 1902. He never went two straight fights without a loss.

Con Coughlin

Con Coughlin hangs it up after a UD10 loss to Pat Kieley.

He finishes with a record of 9-24.

Never really had a signature win and never put together a 3 fight winning streak.

Dropped to club in March of 1902 and never made it back to the primetime.
