stealing Brooks' format
Fighter: Tompkin Gilbert
Division: Heavyweight Record: 13(1) - 30(6) - 5 Notes: Gilbert was never a player in the main division dropping to club in 10/02 and never making it back. Won 4 fights in a row in 1908/9 but that was his best effort. Gilbert only scored 4 knockdowns in his career but was fairly sturdy going down 25 times in 48 bouts and only being stopped 6 times. |

Fighter: Mike Brennan
Division: Heavyweight Record: 22(17) - 23(15) Retired: Forced, no comeback Notes: It was kill or be killed for Brennan with 32 of his 45 fights not making the distance. Brennan had some big wins (Dominic McCaffrey KO7 and Joe Goss UD10) but was very inconsistent. He dropped to club in 1/08 but thanks to 7 straight wins got back to main in 03/12. Never fought for a title Last edited by mh2365 : 05-10-2008 at 07:00 PM. |

A fan favorite hangs them up for good
Fighter: Jack Dempsey NP
Division: Middleweight and Light Heavyweight Record: 46(31) - 7(7) - 0 (16-3 after comeback) Retired: forced, second retirement, no comeback Notes: First HOF candidate to retire for good. Dempsey won the MW title twice before moving up and winning the LHW title. Dempsey was the first (and only so far) to defeat Jack Dillon. Only had one bad loss (to Fred Russell) but the rest of his loses came to probably future HOF'ers (Fitzsimmons x 2, Ketchel, Ryan, Papke and Klaus). He finished 5-5 in title fights. HOF Eligible - 1914 |

I'll miss seeing Dempsey in the LBA. He has my vote for the Hall.

Dammit, the man is finally putting together a solid reign and he retires. This sucks as Dempsey was always my favorite guy in the LBA. Oh well, at least he went out on top.
