Thank you.
Tom: I have no fancy set of parameters or rules for bringing fighters in, I just pick who I want. It has gone like this to-date (more or less): 1. I started with approximately 2,000 stiffs in 1898 2. I brought in several hundred moderate fighters from 1899 to 1900 3. I brought in roughly 500 per year for 1901 to 1902 with a wide range of talents. 4. I just dumped another 3,000 stiffs into the universe and will be bringing about 900 or so in for 1903. At this point, there is about a 5 to 2 ratio of stiffs to real fighters (somewhere around 7,500 or so total fighters). I would like to have a bigger ratio than that but I am sick of creating stiffs. Going forward, I plan to add about 5 per weight class per year (fighters that interest me) with additional fighters to replace any that retire. My plan is to replace with a similarly rated fighter when one retires. I'm just feeling my way along but the size of this right now is just about perfect for me. There are a ton of interesting fighters lurking in this universe that do not surface much yet as they are all un-ranked. Within another few years of game time, there should be very capable fighters in every division from 1 to 75 in the world rankings. I have no fear of running out of boxers to add, although certain geographic regions at certain weights will get thin and require more rating on my part. As a note, it takes 20 fights to get into the world rankings, 15 for the five major sanctioning bodies and 10 for the minor organizations. Christopher

One other tidbit about this one is that I assign everyone a specific corner man, so I plan to turn all retired fighters into trainers (only two retired to-date). Christopher

How do you run your months Chris .... I struggle with the 1000 real fighters I use, my TC's are just selected randomly by the auto scheduler. Now there are real stiffs but they are treated just like a 10 rated fighter in my uni.

1) All fighters (TCs included) are treated the same. The way I do this makes it so they fight their first 10-15 bouts against other TCs but after that, the ranking system and the way I use the auto scheduler pushes them to the fringe. 2) Four months each year are deemed international bout months. Each world title holder has a 50% chance of defending in each of these months. World titlists are the only champions that do not fight between defenses in non-title match-ups. The top 76 world raked fighters in each division square off against each other in addition to the possible world title bout. 3) The other 8 months see the fighters staying in their geographical sanctioning area. I set the ranking option to 10 bouts which generally means 300 or so fighters per division (over 600 for the HW) will be 'ranked' in the auto-scheduler. I view these months as a tune-up period for the better fighters and a chance for the lower or younger fighters to move up. I use the auto-scheduler exclusively. I set it to allow all fighters in a geographical area with 9 or fewer bouts to face someone ranked 151 or lower. I then go through each division in each geographical grouping and set it to have top 50 fighters square off against fighters ranked 51 to 150. I set the AS to select up to fifty bouts for each division per group. Generally, this results in no more than 8 to 10 bouts per division per group because the ranking is world-wide and a particular group may not have many fighters in the world top 50 (set at ten bouts). The way this shakes out right now, The top fifty world wide will fight 1 to 3 times between international months and in total about 35 to 40% of all fighters are active each month. In these months there is also a 25% chance that a main title holder (AABU, APBC, EBF, NABF, SABC) will defend and a 10% that one of the 40 or so minor title holders will defend. If selected for a defense, the fighter is removed from the other scheduling. I have to continually change this process as the universe evolves but I hope to have something fairly well fixed by the end of this summer. It really is not too bad time-wise. I like to watch all the title fights and everything else gets auto-scheduled. I could do one whole division in about 15 minutes although I generally spend 30 to 45 minutes on a division as I like to review what happened. The international months take much longer as I set up 38 fights per division plus the title fight (if selected). I also watch all the HW match-ups. If that make any sense, so be it.

Yeah it's a process ... see my problem is while I use the autoscheduler for more than 1/2 the fights in each month, those are pretty much strictly fights against TC's. I may use your regional TC's as real fighters to round out some of my areas since I plan to start doing regional titles at the beginning of 1911.
Where I get caught up in time is that I like to run 12-16 fight cards a month and I'll watch and score 2 to 3 bouts a card, so in all I'll watch around 45 to 60 fights a month. But it submerses me more into my uni so I like it that way. |

I had a major brush fire at the cyber ranch and lost most of the back forty. I should have much of it patched-up in a few days but getting through December, 1902 is taking longer than expected. The photo download pages are lost and I haven't the patience to re-build them.

Austin's rating is the 5 that Jofre posted. It is likely on the high side but I have no intention of tampering with our Austin If he puts some gitty-up in his fight scheduling, he may get a shot at a minor belt (Maritime, US Boxing Writers Assn, Charter Oak) before some of the bigger boys released these past two years in my universe develop.
