17th December - Royal Albert Hall
LW - Ken Buchanan (8-0) UD10 Mike Farragher (5-20-2)
LW - Jack McAuliffe (25-4-1) KO8 Billy Dacey (13-3-1) In an excellent fight, Dacey was pushing hard against the ex World Champion before walking into a right cross, things were very tight on the cards when the fight was halted. British & Commonwealth Featherweight Title Young Pluto (13-8-1)(Holder) UD12 Frank Murphy (11-7-5) Murphy failed to add the Commonwealth belt to his European title. In an exciting fight that swung one way then the other, Pluto built up a good lead which was eroded away by Murphy. The crucial moment came in the 11th round when Murphy went down for the second time in the fight and his fate was sealed. European Middleweight Title Bob Fitzsimmons (27-7)(Holder) TKO1 Irish Jack Burke (17-2-1) In a sensational performance, Fitz had Burke on the canvas after thirty seconds and after the Irishman got to his feet the action was all oneway until referee Ramirez stepped in. This was arguably Fitzsimmons most impressive performance at the weight and the first time Burke had been stopped. |

21st December - Forbes Field
BW - Johnny Murphy (14-2-1) KO9 Billy Rotchford (8-5)
WW - Tom Meadows (12-7) TKO3 Mel Goldsmith (0-9-1) USBA Middleweight Title Young Mitchell (Challenger)(19-2-1) KO8 George LaBlanche (20-7-1) LaBlanche outslugged! George LaBlanche lost his American title after being KO'd by the recently out of sorts Mitchell. There was no hiding in this one as the pair stood toe to toe. Mitchell was already on all three cards at the close out, with LaBlanche running empty. WBF World Lightweight Title Bobby Dobbs (Champion)(22-0) KO15 Patsy Kerrigan (10-9-1) Ex Champ Kerrigan put up a brave performance against Dobbs, who was making his second defence. With the fight even at halfway the Champion upped his workrate and dominated the rest of the encounter. He left the best to the last round when dropping Kerrigan with a bodyshot, after barely making the count Kerrigan rose to his feet and was chased around the ring before being dropped by a telling right hook. This was the last fight under WBF rules this year. |
