Ok, they have been uploaded. You will have to side step Gene Rayburn, Monty Hall and the like, but most are real ring announcers.

A fighter photo file has also been uploaded containing just over 11,000 photos at the moment.

I extracted the names from OOTP2006, giving credit where it is due.

I have posted it at http://home.comcast.net/~will.amos/NameGen.xls

Enjoy!
This is killing me. Is anyone able to figure out how to make the formulas calculate names in this spreadsheet? This thing looks fantastic; just the thing I have been searching for. I know Swimmer put a lot of time into it and I can't get it to work!

My wife looked at it today and thinks it is something to do with the formula on the nations page in column L.

Are you having any luck with this yet? I still have not heard back from Swimmer - hopefully we can get this to work.

So tantalizing.

Tried to help out with my own humble knowledge of excel. Downloaded the file and could also not get it to do anything. We have Excel 2002 as well. Wonder what version Franklin has?

What problem is everyone having with the spreadsheet?

When you open the sheet do you have random names already there, but you can't use F9 to create new names, or do you get no names at all?

When I open it in Excel it does nothing at all, but when I saved it as an Open Office file I was able to generate names.

How do you save it as an Open Office File? Perhaps that is my problem.

There are no names in the cells when I download it, just the formulas.

http://openoffice.org

It's a free office suite.

Download and install it, then right click on the name generation file (not the zip file, but the extracted excel file), and select Open With... select OpenOffice from the list and it should open up with the names generated.

Then save the file as an OpenOffice 1.0 file.

After that you can open it in OpenOffice all the time, F9 doesn't work, but if you close the spreadsheet and then reopen it you will have some more newly generated names.

It's not ideal, but at least it works.

Thanks a bunch folks! I got it to work with Open Office. I still cannot get the calc function to work on demand but it re-calculates every time I open it which can serve the same purpose from my perspective.
