Images for Fictional Fighters
Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions for a program or website
where one can create images for fictional fighters? I'm thinking kind of along the lines of The Sims 2, where you design fictional characters. I'd like to at least have a face to go with my fictional fighters. Thanks for any ideas. |

I've toyed around with filling out my FAKE/Tomato Can fighters with b/w pics of old wrestlers that are probably not easily recognized.
Here is a site I stumbled upon with a ton of pics to look through. http://www.obsessedwithwrestling.com/gallery/index.html |

Wesley317,
Thanks for showing interest in fictional fighters; I thought that Bear and I were the only ones using them. What I usually do is copy an image of a real boxer who reminds me of one of the fictional boxers in my universe. Than I rename the copy of the picture using the name of the fictional fighter. For example; Kevin McCourt is Mike McTigue, Stephane Francois is George Carpentier, Flash Sullivan is Tommy Loughran and George Boykin as Battling Skki. Three of the four fictional boxers are from the book Poor Nigger by Orin Vergain. Flash Sullivan is from a short story by Robert E. Howard. The authors appeared to have these boxers in mind when creating their characters. In creating my fictional boxers, I tried to give a description from the book to help you visualize the individual. A fictional character that reminds me of Willie Pep might make you think of Sonny Liston. Hope that helps, Austin |

I've created faces for some of my fictional fighters by using the demo version of Face Gen, a face-generation software program. It's pretty easy to create faces in batches of nine, in any ethnicity or multiracial person-type you want.
I sometimes then add mohawks or beards or 'fros or whatever using the Windows paint program. |

http://www.facegen.com/modeller.htm (A tad steep, I can see using only the demo myself.)

In the demo each face has something stamped on its forehead (a letter or abbreviation of something), but you can cover it up via cut and paste if it bothers you. |

My Dad and I used to laugh about that nickname given that the only thing really in question was exactly how he was going to loose each week. I remember SD Jones too with that silly triple swirl he'd do with his fist before firing a punch. I used to shout at the other wrestlers to hit him while he pulled that stunt. ... then I realized it was all fake, oh well. Good memories.

Talking About pictures for fictional fighters:
I downloaded one of Cubes facepacks and once I had it in the images folder, I recopied it again giving me two full copies of the same pictures. I use one of the sets for fictional fighters and I use the other set for real fighters. When I want to give a fictional fighter a face to go with MY imagination, I just go through the set that I reserved for "fictional" and assign him the photo that I feel best looks like what I want him to look like. This works for me because: 1. It does not interfere with the real fighters having their real photo if I choose to use them in my universe since I have two sets. 2. I am not that familiar with what fighters of the past actually looked like, except of course the really big names, so they actually BECOME my fictional guys in my mind. I know there is medication for that. Anyway.... |
