Creating All-Time Fighter Packs

Occasionally, they have "experts" get together on TV or in magazines and they'll give their lists - like the top ten Heavyweights, Middleweights, Lightweights, etc.

Bert Sugar might rate them one way, Manny Steward another, etc. While one person would rate Joe Louis or Muhammad Ali at number 1 or 2... every once in a while you'll see someone rate Jack Johnson, or Jack Dempsey at number 1. Nat Fleischer, the founder of the Ring, saw every fighter mentioned above fight live thought Jack Johnson was #1.

Anyway, fighter packs could be created with fighter ratings that reflected various opinions.

And in the Heavyweight division in particular, some people believe that today's larger Heavyweights such as Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis the Klitschko's etc., would have a definite advantage over the smaller Heavyweights of the past (Marciano, Walcott, Frazier, etc.).

That could be done as well with adjusting ratings and creating a fighter pack(s) for people who have that opinion, too.

That would be one way to keep the "masses" happy, I guess.

Just a thought.

I actually think this is a good idea, and perhaps something that can be added to a future edition of TBCB. I am actually using creating stables of fighters for the new universe I am creating.

I think today's guys might have and advantage in shorter fights but the "ole time" fighters had a higher workrate and boxed for more rounds. Many of today's heavyweights would drop dead if they had to fight 15 rounds. * Most likely their training methods would change and they would come in much lighter. Wlad was 238 in his last bout which is a good weight for him.

When I'm talking of "ole time" fighters, that is pretty much anything before 1999. I don't think Lennox Lewis or Evander Holyfield would have issues with a 15 round bout. Evander went 15 with Braxton back in the mid 80's.

My List
---------------
1- Jack Dempsey
2- Jack Johnson
3- Joe Louis
4- Rocky Marciano
5- Cassius Clay
6- Gene Tunney
7- Larry Holmes
8- George Foreman
9- Joe Frazier
10- Lennox Lewis
11- Evander Holyfield
12- Mike Tyson
13- Sonny Liston
14- Sam Langford
15- James Jeffries
16- Peter Jackson
17- Ezzard Charles
18- Jersey Joe Walcott
19- Max Schmeling
20- Harry Wills
21- Joe Jeannette
22- Max Baer
23- Riddick Bowe
24- John L. Sullivan
25- Ken Norton
