Hi Bear,

Inadvertently I've been doing some pearl gathering on boxrec, but not very scientific. I pulled up various heavyweights, and did some of the things you mentioned, like looking at debut fights, then drilling down on fighters with losing records. I have about a 16 page Word document laying out the records and other info (who they beat and lost to), and have quite a few guys listed, and many more that I have yet to put inro Word.

Some of the fighters are well-known (e.g. Danny Wofford), but Danny did send a few guys into retirement! I haven't created anything from the TC templates, as I still am a relative newcomer.

If you'd like, I can post some of them in your thread, or start a new one. I do know that I have spent many a lunch hour driiling down on boxrec, and know the work effort involved.

If you create any TCs using templates for guys you find in Boxrec this is a good place to post them. My only worry would be the possible duplication of work. Like you I've been spending lunch times creating lists of potential guys.

I haven't actually created any tomato cans, as I don't feel that confident with my ability to do so. I have 110 or so fighters (mainly heavyweights)documented in a Word document, with their records and some commentary (with many more fighters printed out but not put into the document). I'd be happy to send that to you and see if you think it is of value, then I could parse some posts about my list.

I started it just as information-gathering, and maybe it could be turned into information-sharing. It has been laborious but very interesting, and I sometimes go down so many levels that it's hard to get back to my original fighter. I was amazed to see how some fighters padded their records, fighting the same sets of tomato cans 3 and sometimes 4 times.

Again, I'd be happy to send you the word document for your review and comment. Gotta get back to the Sox/Indians game!
