Hi John
I can remember an earlier version of the game that had a rating for James Butler, SMW. Did i miss that one somewhere along the way? I haven't seen a rating for him since that particular version. Thanks |

James Butler
I had to dig around in my notes but I finally found his rating. Not only did he sucker punch Richard Grant after losing a decision to him, Butler was later sent to prison for armed robbery. What a loser.

Hi John,
Loser would be the best way to describe James Butler. I started following his career because Max Kellerman (whom I like a lot) used to talk about him during his time @ ESPN. It was during the darker SMW days and Kellerman used to say that Butler might be someone to watch in the then weak division. Then, the sucker punch you mentioned and then this: Sam Kellerman, Max’s brother, was brutally murdered, his body discovered in his Los Angeles apartment on October 17th. Boxer James Butler, a friend of Sam’s and a fighter who Max stuck up for in the wake of his despicable actions after a bout against Richard Grant, is being held in connection with the slaying. When violence enters a person’s life it humanizes them and startles them into the reality of how fleeting life is. Max, who worshiped his brother, has been crushed by the loss of a man whom he looked up to and confided in. Actually, loser might be a compliment to this guy. |

Yes. I forgot the details but I knew it was something very violent. I like Max Kellerman too. Wish he was still doing commentary with Teddy Atlas. They had a great rapport.

Sweet, these are great additions!
Yeah I recall that Butler fight, I think there was some police benefit right after 9/11. I also recall Max sticking up for James & then his poor brother dies @ his hands. Butler's nickname was the Harlem Hammer - what a sad irony too! |
