I believe he has a rating already in the game. 3 as a LHW.

What sort of fighters does a 1 rated guy fight to have a 28-3 record?

This is one problem with the game engine's rating system. Thankfully it seems to be only an issue at the bottom of the spectrum. The '1' rating contains a huge range of 'talent' from fighters that simply cannot ever win to ones that have a little something going for them in one respect or another. In my opinion, the way it works now, '1' coveres too much ground and needs to be divided into 1s, 0s and -1s like the nineties version of the board game cards did. If we were to have that, the true bottom (-1) rating would cover about as wide a range of possabilities as most of the other rating levels. When/if I post a 1 rated fighter that I've made, I generally try to note 'high 1' or simply '1'.

Take a look. His info is on boxrec. He didn't defeat anyone good. In addition, he does have a decent CF against boxers and has some defense ability. You have to look at more than just the overall rating. Fighters with a punch will do him harm due to his weak chin.

Many fighters have nice records but their record is empty because of the lack of good fighters on it.

I agree with the above. Let us not forget that a 3 or a 4 rated fighter is considered talented. A 4 chin and a 3 durability or cut rating will play hell with the overall rating.

That said, if someone doesn't like the way I rate a fighter, just change him. I rate fighters using the same method because all of the fighter ratings are related within the game. There is a guide on the TB website that I often refer to. I don't agree that you can just look a fighters record without inspecting who he boxed and who the fighters on his record boxed and form an opinion on him/her.

Both Tea and Chris are right on the money.

I like Chris's comments about (1) rated fighters. That is a large group. Take a couple of my recent creations: Mike Bernardo and Corey Coulter. Both fighters are rated an overall (1) but out of 50 simulations, Bernardo defeated Coulter 48 times. Maybe it should read (1+) (1-) and (1).

I know MJ, I wasn't questioning your ratings @ all - I love them! I just thought it was funny to see a 1 with a good record like that. Chris makes some good points, there used to be 0 rated & even negative fighters. When trying to build a fighter's record, even some of these 1's can be tough.

There was a guy at the Turning Stone one year that had a great looking record but couldn't fight at all. Who is the best (1) rated fighter in the game?

That's a great question, I'll have to check my files & get back to you.

I can't recall now if Justin Ganza's a 1 but he's @ 168 & has a 2-6 record in my uni - not too bad for a 1 who I fight against elite fighters.

Pedro Agosto has always performed above and beyond for me. He has a (6) for punching power and decent 3pt punch chances. He has a (5) chin but if he fights a fighter with little pop or a bad chin, he has a shot.

That's a hard call in my uni because of the amount of TC's all fighters face prior to becoming prime but here are some in my uni now that are prime.

LHW - Sam Campbell (12-8)
FW - Tommy Connelly (17-10-1)
WW - Holger Hansen (16-7-2) (scored a KO8 over Mike Glover)
HW - Frank Herald (13-7-1)
HW - Sunny Jim (13-5-2)
LW - Jack Lynch (15-5)
LHW - Jack McAuley (16-7-3)
LHW - Pat McCourt (13-8-3)
HW - William Schiller (16-13)
HW - Bill Squires (15-18-1) (included him because he started in 1902 when I didn't fight them against TC's so his record is a bit more impressive)
LHW - SP Stockton (22-20-2) (same deal with him as Squires)
HW - Punch Vaughn (15-9)
HW - Dutch Zimmer (15-5)
