We can scratch Flash Elorde (real name Gabriel in the database), Ron Essett (rated by Tea or SAL), Hilton Fitzpatrick (Fitzie in the original database), Paul Takeshi is Paul Takeshi Fuji or Paul Fuji in the database, and Eckhard Dagge is in there and recently updated by Tea in this string. I'm also still looking for an Andrei (Andrej) Schkalikov (Shkalikov) pic, too. Thanks in advance for any help.

I did rate Botha some time ago, I think I posted him in your Africa thread. I have him in my universe now and have searched for a photo a number of times to no avail. I will be thrilled but surprised if a pic turns up, he did not have a terribly long career.

Unfortunately, I have none of the others either.

I just took a look back at Botha. He fought at fly and jfly but I rated him at jfly as a 4 based largely on the two decision fights with Muchoki. (that may be a tad high, but there wasn't much to go on) I assumed that he likely had a decent amateur career and probably more fights than boxrec listed at the time (9). Pretty speculative.

What I'm finding, more for the guys of that era even than my 1940s universe, is that these guys didn't stay in one weight class and it's hard to define a true fly because the ones I've looked at so far (Ash, Rosner, working on Frankie Mason and Roy Moore) all fought guys anywhere from paperweight to lightweight, bouncing between classes freely.

For instance, this guy fought Wilde, Herman, Coulon, Mason, Pancho, Montreal, Genaro, Burns, Buff, Dunn, Zulu Kid and Murray ... guys who are listed anywhere from fly to lightweight.
