File not found
I will do my best to describe what happened.
I was adding fighters from cornerwork after updating to version 2.0.27. Everything seemed to be going OK and then I started the program and encountered a message saying that "the record for fighter X could not be found, a blank record is being created." This message appeared for about 400 fighters. So, I figured I would just uninstall the game and then reinstall and start over, but I can't seem to do that. Each time I reinstall, it gives me a couple of old databases and the recent database with the additional 400 empty records (presumably of fighters I had imported previously). Is there a way to do a truly clean reinstallation of the game? I seem to be permanently stuck in my "ruined universe". Thanks. Jeff |

Uninstall the game the way you normally would (Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->pick TB2 from the list and uninstall/remove it)
Then go to the directory (assuming you installed to the default directory), C:\Program Files\Out Of The Park Developments If the Title Bout Championship Boxing 2 folder is there, delete it. TB2 should now be totally gone from your computer (including any databases) and then install the game. Also note, I've ran into the same problem with files found on Cornerwork.com. It seems to occur when you import a fighter that already exists, and you choose to create a seperate new record. At least, that's how it happens for me. And it doesn't happen all of the time either. I'm not sure exactly what's triggering it, but to be safe I always just overwrite the existing fighter and haven't had a problem since. |

Thanks for the quick reply, I will go ahead and give that a try.
I think you are right about the overwriting files as I too had been creating new records. I was creating new records for the first time and I encountered this problem for the first time so that's almost definitely got to be it. Thanks again. Jeff |

I was able to reinstall a clean version of the game. There was one DB provided with about 3200 fighters. I then installed the patch. The game says it is running version 2.0.27, but now there are only about 1400 fighters and still just the one DB. Has anyone encountered this? Thanks.

Patch Problem
Upon further inspection, it appears that the patch is only installing half of the DB. There are no fighters after the letter L. Also, there do not appear to be any fighters who have been updated as of 1-2006, all I see is 6-2005. Not sure what to do next.

Jeff, you do not need to install the game twice. Uninstall it completely, then download version 2.0.27 and install it. The "patch" includes all files. Well, it's more an updated version than a patch then...
After installing the update need to switch back to your previous database. To do so, open the Game Options screen, and select the previous database from the Databases dropdown list. I've never seen that only a part of the fighters are loaded ("up to the letter L"). Something must have gone really wrong during the installation...

Andreas,
Thanks, that's exactly what I did and it seemed to work out fine. I noticed in the patch thread that you indicated a fix for the "no rating record" problem. Is that the same problem as the "file for fighter X not found" problem I outlined above? If it isn't, that might be a bug. Based on the experiences of Sabotai and Myself, it appears to happen when one imports the record of a fighter already in their DB and elects to create a new record rather than overwriting the existing file. It must be pretty rare, but I thought I would pass it on in case you find something in that area. Thanks for all the great work! Jeff |
