Help with Background Problem?

Hey Guys,

I had to uninstall the game and reinstall. Now when I use the Icon that the game automatically creates as well as the "troubleshooting" icon my screen is missing the lines that seperate some of the fields and some of the letters are a little fuzzy.

If I open the game with the small tbcb 2 icon that is in the directory of the game it looks fine.

What can I do to have the game open properly from the icon that is on the "desk top" screen. Having to go through all of those steps to get to the workable icon is a headache.

I'm sure it has something to do with the "3D" option but I am not sute how to get to the enable/disable 3D screen.

Thanks for you help!

Have you changed your display in Control Panel at all? This can cause problems in TBCB.

Thanks for the reply.

No, I don't think that I changed anything on my desk top. I did uninstall and reinstall the game though. It has been happening ever since.

Hey, Boxing Nut

doubt this is the same problem raised by the initial poster, but I recently had a fancier video card with 3D acceleration installed, which also necessitated some changes to my display settings, and since then I have had a number of issues getting TB2 to run. Any suggestions? (Have posted an email with OOTP Tech support but they have yet to respond with this being a weekend and all.)

Hey JC

You will have problems if you change you colour settings from High to Medium in the display settings in Control Panel.

Regards

Rob

Also check you have the latest video card drivers.

Thanks for the help, but ...

... specifically how do I check for the video card drivers and what should I look for? (assume you are talking to a novice here!)

hey JC

I am no whizz either but go to your video card's manufacturer's website and download the latest patch. Or if you like tell me the name of your card manufacturer (I am guessing it is either NVidia or ATI) and I will download the latest patch and send it to you. It might not work but it's a good place to start. Solving the problem is a process of elimination.

In the meantime contact OOTP with your problem and see what kind of response you get.

Regards

Rob

Thanks for the help

The card in question is an ATI Radeon 9250. Right now I can't even access the display thing to change the settings. Have tried contacting both ATI and OOTP customer support but little useful help there. Will probably have to take the thing in and have someone look at it.

Nope not yet Boxingnut. Thanks for asking.

It's wierd that I can get it to work when I open it from the small icon in the TBCB 2 folder, but none of the desktop icons will open it with the proper background.

I wish someone had a clue. Because I sure don't

I have had the same problem with another game although I'm not sure what the solution is. Why did you have to uninstall and reinstall in the first place?

Problem Resolved ...

... at least for now. Found the ATI website and downloaded a driver that, once I was able to figure out how to reset the display (for awhile the Start Menu had disappeared from the screen), things seem to be OK, although I have had a crash or two. Keeping fingers tightly crossed...
