Did TitleBout cause Blue Screen of Death and driver problem?
I downloaded TitleBout 2 to my computer last Friday, 9/8. I've been playing the demo version and I love it and had planned to purchase the game at the end of the demo. However, something has happened that is making me reconsider that.
Saturday 9/9, my son was on our computer playing Solitaire, just the regular version that came with Windows. Let me backtrack, I'm using a Dell E-310, two months old, still under warranty, running Windows XP Media, Service Pack 2 with all current updates. While my son was playing, he got the Blue Screen of Death, the computer showed an IRQL-NOT-LESS-OR-EQUAL error, did a memory dump and the following message came up: STOP: 0x000000D1 (OxOOOOOOOC, Ox00000002, Ox00000000, 0xAA650F21) Portcls.sys -- Address AA650F21, base at AA650000, DateStamp 4057e49 I have researched this issue and have determined that it's a driver problem. Specifically, it's a driver problem with the sound card. Here's the deal. My understanding is that usually when something like this happens, it's connected to a recent change in software or hardware. Downloading TitleBout 2 is the only software change I've made to my computer in ages. It was the only variable that had changed in ages before I got the Blue Screen of Death and the stop error. I've talked to some folks on other computer forums about this and they wondered if something connected with the game might have changed or replaced a driver and Windows isn't liking it, to where it might have created problems with RAM, created a sound card conflict or a general code conflict. Does anyone out there have any idea what might be happening here and if TitleBout 2 might have done something that caused this? When you install it, does it do anything to the drivers? If anyone does have an inkling of what is going on here, can you give me some idea of how to fix it? Because I really, really, REALLY want to keep this game, it's one of the best sports games I've played in ages. But if my computer doesn't like it and I can't get things worked out, then I don't think I have any choice but to uninstall it and use System Restore to take my computer back to before the problem started. Thanks in advance for any help. Last edited by PRW : 09-11-2006 at 01:33 AM. |

TB2 doesn't install ANY sound drivers. I believe you may have an outdated installation of Direct X. The few times errors like this were reported, this turned out to be the case.
