Empty Rating records...
My Database curse strikes again.
For whatever reason, when loading the game I got a rating records not found message and all the fighters in the Universe were reduced to blank ratings records (zeros in all categories) I did back up the Universe after I created it, but that was before I created everyones history. Here is my dilema, the fighters with the zero ratings all have their Histories intact, but no ratings. I can restore my backup of the Database but would lose all of the history and have to start over again.......anyone have any ideas? |

This Has Been Addressed Before ...
Lee, congratulations, looks like you have been hit by the dreaded "No Ratings Record Found Bug" which is in my view the most persistent problem with TB2 and one that has not been fully addressed by OOTP tech support, although they claimed to have done it with the most recent patch, it hasn't totally eliminated it.
There are numerous threads on the subject, here are a few of them, which include some advice from me based on painful past experience: "no rating record found" bug - please advise .dat file error when opening the game Ratingrecords bug survived No Rating record found!! No Rating Record Found Error Post #2 on the last thread (111830) contains my most complete checklist of what to do when hit by this bug, but feel free to consult all the other posts as well. There's been alot of speculation about what causes the bug, no real consensus. Based on the last couple of times it has hit me (and believe me, by now I have learned the hard way and have the game up and running in 5 minutes by simply substituting the copy or backup file), it seems to occur when you might have two copies of the game running at once. For example, I click on the icon to open the game, wait a minute, it takes awhile to load, and impatiently I click on the icon again, so based on this I would recommend you be more patient particularly if you are finding the game takes awhile to load on your computer. If any of this advice works or doesn't work, feel free to post any follow up questions or practical advice. |

Further Advice
Lee, in thinking about your particular situation, it seems like it's the "history.dat" file that is still intact whereas it's the "ratingsrecord.dat" file that has been corrupted. So instead of restoring everything, it seems as if replacing the "ratingsrecord.dat" file with the one that seems the most complete and not fiddling with anything else might be the best way to go.
(The three files I routinely create backup copies of after any changes or repeated sessions are "history.dat," "fighters.dat" and "ratingsrecord.dat"). Preface this with the same caveat as in all my other posts, I am not a computer expert by any means!!! Also recommend you send personal email to Andreas or post on the lead thread about the 2.0.25 patch to let him know that this bug is still persistent (I am assuming you are playing with the most recent 2.0.27 patch because his initial post there suggested he fixed the bug which is certainly not the case, based on several recent posts here -- not just yours). Thanks JC, wish I would have researched this a bit further, would have saved my Database, unfortunately I restarted a couple of times trying other things and my BAK file also is now full of 0 rated fighters
![]() Still I am keeping it positive, now I know what to do in the future and this gives me a chance to do a fresh install of all the Fighters.....really I am smiling... Thanks again for your insight into this JC, it will save me in the future. |

Don't Give Up, Lee
Lee, even without the ratingsrecord.bak file, you can still take the ratingsrecord.dat from the default database and transfer that to your exisiting database, so you would at least have the ratings for some of the fighters. But frankly, for all the others, I'm thinking you will have to enter the ratings in by hand for all your active fighters if you want to keep the fight histories, stats, ratings and boxer records intact as well.
