Performance points

Hello!

I downloaded a couple of fighters and decided to import Peter Okhello into my database. When I checked his profile I discovered that he is 0-6 with 400 performance points. Tony Thompson has a clear record but he has 1000 perfomance points.

It's not a problem for me right now as they are not involved in my universe at this point. But I was planning to introduce them at some point.

Is there a way to reset their record and/or points?

Tommy:

They will get 1,000 to begin, so that is not a problem per se although some (myself included) feel 1,000 is too high to start with. To rid the file of a particular fighter's record and history, check the box to the left of his name and click the clear record button at the bottom or right sight menu. I have forgotten where it is and do not have the program running right now. If you can't find it, just say so - I'll get the exact button location.

Tommy:

I just checked, it is called the 'reset stats' button. It is the first button at the top of the right-side menu.

Editing the perf pts

There is also an undocumented way to edit the perf pts (in my case I start out new boxers with 200, which is supposed to be the default value in the game but I have seen new boxers start out with 1000 as Chris mentioned, but also I have seen 0 as well). The way to do this is to go to the fighers stats screen, enter a phony win (you need to do this because fighters with no bouts will reset to the default perf pt value automatically) and then edit the perf pts to the desired number). Then you need to click on save and then redo the entire process except you change the phony win from a 1 to a 0, then save again and voila -- you have changed the perf pts to the correct number.

Mh, who is one of the frequent posters on this board, pointed this feature out once in the thread relating to the new patch that came out in early 2006.

You can also do this in the event the new perf pts are not auto-saved after a bout, another annoying bug in the 2.0.27 patch that needs to be fixed, but the best way to deal with that possibility is to manually do the save procedure for each and every boxer you care about having an accurate perf pts number after each bout. All this is time-consuming, but unfortunately a necessary work-around until OOTP finds a way to fix these two bugs relating to perf pts.

Thanks for the tip!

I gave this little thought and the one time I would prefer for new prospects to start with high performance points is if I was running a current day HW universe. Lets say that you would bring a boxer in and have him start at 1000 pts. Then you feed him stiffs to pad his record. By the time he gets ranked (around 10-15 fights for most of us I think) he would most certain be 10-0 or 15-0 still having pretty high performance points and a relatively high ranking.

This (if I havn't forgotten something) would simulate the emphasis that people put on unbeaten records today contrary to the quality of opposition (this was debated on the Malik Scott thread).

I've been resetting new fighters created to "0" perf points. Is the default actually supposed to be "200"? Everytime someone mentions editing each individual fighter, I think about the over 600 active heavies in my current universe and get a sick feeling. I still have hundreds of retired fighters that don't have physicals or hometowns.

200 is what I remember

when I switched over to the new ranking system with patch 2.0.27 last Feb., I think most of my fighters were re-set to 200 (although the active ones received a different number based on their rating under the prior system). I also think there was a post by someone (mh I believe) stating that 200 was the default value for fighters starting out. Once I started adding or re-setting fighters in my Uni, then I saw the 0s and 1000s pop up -- still not sure why, however.
