Error .dat file Revisited

I have just experienced my first .dat error (in 2 years) and would like to recover my fighter database. Can anyone offer some new suggestions?

I've read the 2 posts on this subject and have not been successul in retrieving my lost fighter files.

After years of using the TB Team's fighters, I finally decided to customize the database by adding and modifying past champions. I've spent the last 6 weeks creating new files for my database and would be devastated if I couldn't use them.

I shut down my computer normally last night after modifying/creating 30-40 new fighters. No crashes or anything. When I opened TBCB2 this evening, I got the .dat error for the first time.

I'm running XP.

This is seriously discouraging and would cause me to give up TBCB for good. If customizing the database means I run the risk of file-corrupting crashes, no thanks. I'll just have to look for other options.

Thanks for your help.

More info to add to my previous post

I think Microsoft Office Picture Manager is the problem.

I added a handful of new photos yesterday to my db that needed to be cropped and resized to fit the TBCB fighter window. The only program I had was MOPM. It seemed to do the trick.

Yesterday was the first time I modified photos in the db and it appears to have zapped my fighter database. I've noticed that all of my photos now have MOPM as the default 'open with' file. Any idea what it was previously?
