Crashes while running autoscheduled bouts
I bought the game some time ago but have not actually played it until now.
I have created a universe of fictional fighters. So far I have only played around with my 300 heavyweights. I like to autoschedule 100 fights at a time. Unfortunately, sometimes when I run the scheduled bouts, the game crashes to desktop. This is rather frustrating, because then I lose all of the fight data I'm accumulated in that particular game session. I am also getting an error message when I 'fight out' some fights. It seems the animation "b2_p3_b1_block.png" will not load. I looked in the relevant folder and it appears that that particular animation is corrupted. |

OK, so I went into my animations folder and renamed the corrupted (the bottom half of the frame looks like static) b2_p3_b1_block.png image. Then I copied an uncorrupted "block" image and renamed it "b2_p3_b1_block.png".
I closed the animations folder, then reopened it. The renamed image was corrupted. Then, I unlicensed the game, and uninstalled it. Then I downloaded TBCB 2.5 again, reinstalled it, and relicensed it. When starting up the newly installed game for the first time I got the message "Error! Unable to open target file." I looked at the animations folder again, and the "new" b2_p3_b1_block.png animation image is corrupted. So, my problems are: 1) crashes while running autoscheduled fights, and 2) an "unable to load" error message while 'fighting out' fights because the animation frame b2_p3_b1_block.png is corrupted for some reason. Frustrating. I realize that computer simulations are very complex animals. But, having bought 2.5 when it came out, and finally having some free time to play it, I was hoping to finally begin doing so. I appreciate Andreas' hard work on the game, but I will be very, very glad when he is able to devote some time to TBCB trouble-shooting. TBCB 2.5 is, at least right now on my computer, barely playable. |

Let me correct what I said in my last post:
When I start the game, which I redownloaded and reinstalled and relicensed just a few minutes ago, I see the message "Installing default data files." Then I get the message "Error! Unable to open target file," and the game crashes to desktop. So, it is not playable at all. *sigh* |

I have also been having more crashes lately while simming auto-scheduled bouts. It does not appear to a certain fighter causing it as they are all getting saved bouts.
I had the same problem in 2.0, and it mostly disappearred in 2.5 until recently.

I don't save the fight logs, etc.
The only files saved are the html files and the updated stas of the fighters. I do need to clean out all those html files though.

I don't save fight logs either.
After spending a couple (more) hours fiddling around with 2.5, I have been able to get it working. I manually deleted the folder containing animations, and did a reinstall. The unable to 'open target file' error went away. To get around the crash while simming autoscheduled bouts, or at least make it bearable, I save the game a LOT more. |
