(with apologies to the Seinfeld show)
It's a Festivus miracle!
How else to explain the return to life of my much maligned PC? The guy at MDG tinkered with it and got Windows working again, but my internet connection was gone. I spoke to a tech from my ISP and he tried everything to revive the line, with no luck. I tried reinstalling Win98 using a borrowed disk, and it didn't even want to look at it. I tinkered with this and that for three hours before detecting a sign of life. Suddenly, without any warning, my browser was functioning. It took another twenty minutes to restore Outlook Express email. Strangely enough, the icon for my old modem has reappeared on my taskbar. Very peculiar. I'm still not sure what exactly the guy at MDG did. He was very vague and mumbled a lot. Here's hoping the fix will hold. Cap (What a Christmas present!)

Cap
One of the real problems i feel is that all thought there are some real genuine people selling and repairing PCs. There are a few who like of course to keep you in the dark as to much knowledge of course means you fix the problem yourself. For example a memory card might have just worked itself loose and could be just need pushing back in place. ( but he might not tell you that ) Just wondering Cap if that guy at MDG made a recovery disk up for you. Pretty important Cap, as sooner or later something again is sure to go wrong. Then of course you will be SORRY. Cheers Old Timer ![]() |
