Please help a computer idiot.
Hello folks. Ok, heres my dillema. I just found out i'm getting a belated Christmas present which is a brand new computer. The problem is that I have about 50 hours of work on photos. results and added fighters, refs. cornermen. Is there a way to get all that good info to my new computer without losing it? I'll share all my stuff with everyone as soon as I can figure out this problem ; )

CD-R or CD-RW will do the trick.
Otherwise, you can install your current Hard Drive in the new computer as a Slave Drive and do the transfer from Windows Explorer. Another option would be to upload your images in a compressed format onto your ISP server and then download them onto the new computer. You will need to contact your ISP for information on the settings and will probably benefit from having an FTP program. |

Crusadecat, as someone who is a mere tinkerer when it comes to computers, I'd say go with Couriers first suggestion, if possible. Even when my Windows98 wasn't functioning, I was still able to go to the DOS prompt and copy files to a diskette. My brother showed me how to access the CD drive and I copied large files to a CD-RW. Your new PC will likely have a CD-RW as standard equipment.
