D3D issues - Updated!
I've tracked down what I think was causing the invisible text in the D3D version of the game for me -- antialiasing. When I turn AA off (or set it to "application controlled"), text is fine. Turn it on, invisible.
Anisotropic filtering has no impact. Again, I'm using a GF4 4600ti with the latest Nvidia ref drivers. Just an FYI! |

I can give specifics only for Nvidia cards/drivers, because that's what I have -- but the general location should be the same for any video drivers.
Usually, settings for anti-aliasing are found in the setup control panel for the video card -- you can get there (usually) by clicking on the "advanced" button on the Display Properties panel. (Under XP, just right-click on an empty part of your desktop and select "Properties" to bring that panel up.) Nvidia drivers now ship with a bottom-bar startup utility; you can switch the card properties directly from that utility if you so desire (saving the time of going through the control panels) For my card (GeForce4 Ti 4600), the anti-aliasing options presented are the modes the card supports, plus an "application controlled" option. Switching to "application controlled" solved the invisible-text issue for me. Hope this helps. |
