Part of the problem is that the file it is looking for is a part of the database. I tried installing the game in a different directory and then copying the file I needed but now the program gives me the gray box that says "program performed an illegal operation" I have had too many bouts to just start over. I am hoping the tech staff can help

Thanks for your suggestion MH2365. You pointed me in the right direction. It seems to be working now. What I did was
1) Installed the game to another directory 2) Copied the "rules" from the Data and mydb directories of the newly installed versions into the respective directories of the old version. 3) Deleted the temporary install and rebooted That seemed to work. I was able to bring the game up, all my data was in tact and I fought an entire fight. WHEW!!! Ya have to be careful when running spy removal software. I have learned that I have to inspect the software's list of files to be removed very carfully and also back up crucial data. I still will need to get the "rules" file into my database that was converted from TF2001. I may have to delete the directory and recovert the data.
