Help me Andreas

Ive been playing this great game since the start of this year and love it but out of the blue i haven't been able to play my beloved game.
Im always viewing posts from other players on these forums and love the support that they provide each other.

Anyway the problem is when i start the the game using either the 3D or the other icon i get the following message.

TB1 caused an invalid page fault in
module <unknown> at 0000:2ae69eff.

so i uninstalled the game and then reinstalled it and got the following message before the game had finished installing

the game installed again but i get the same message at the top of this post when i go to run the game each time.

i look forward to your reply

Do you use TB 1.6.0?

Do you have DirectX installed and the latest video card driver software? Did you change anything regarding DirectX or your video card driver software?

Uninstall your TB, and delete the complete content of the TB program directory except the /data folder.
Then download TB 1.6 full setup, not the patch, and install it.
(No need to un-license/license TB)
Does that work?

Did you install the latest version of your video card driver software?

Did you switch off the sound?

"If you're still having problems to run the game, it's a good idea to switch off the sound just to make sure whether this is the reason or not. If you can start the game, just toggle the three settings regarding the sound in the Game Options screen.

If you cannot start the game, open the config.ini file, which is located in the TB program folder. Find the three lines with the sound settings and edit them to get this:

PlayMusic=0
PlayCrowdNoises=0
PlayAnySounds=0

Save and close the file, then start the game."

End Unnecessary Background Tasks and all other apps.

Thanks for replying Andreas but I used the error message as an excuse to reinstall my hard drive and start a fresh.

On my "like new" pc I re-downloaded the game but am having the freezing problem at the license screen. I have flicked through some old posts in the "troubleshooting section" and have read what others have tried to stop it from freezing.
Hopefully what they tried will work for me so I can start playing this excellent game again.

If you know of a way to stop the freezing up at the license screen could you please reply?

I'll keep you posted on the game status over the next day or two so don't go disappearing on me again

The very first setup file had a bug that caused the game to freeze up when you click on a button at the licensing screen. But later versions should not do that.
Did you already install DirectX 8.1 or higher?

I downloaded the lastest install version, at the top of the purchase/license window it has the numbers 1.6.0.

Yip I have install direct X 9.0c.

I read on one of the posts that if you run a game that uses direct X first and then try to license TB it works, but it still locks up on me.

I've complete uninstalled the game again and am running Scan disk and defrag write now and as soon as thats done im going to re-download the install for TB and give it another shot.
Also I'm running the lastest video and sound drivers for my PC as I had to download them after the reformat.

(I know the game runs on my PC because I had it running happily for 4 months, I'll get this game back up and running again if it takes me a year, thats how much its made an impression on me.) (y)

I'll keep you posted Andreas.

Cheers
