Problem with this message board

Okay, I've just had a hell of a hard time trying to copy and paste some text from a file in Microsoft Word into a message on this board for my "Heavyweight Boxing Federation" thread in the Inside The Ropes section.

When I first pasted it, the formatting was all over the place, with >>>> everywhere and everywhere too. I tried editing it a number of times, and it made certain sections have a smaller font, placed 4 lines between each paragraph and sometimes completely cut out half or full paragraphs. Also, there was probably about ten screens full of blank space at the bottom of the post. In the end, I gave up and just attached the file to my post.

Has anyone else come across this problem? I really want to make posts in this forum for my universe. I want to share it with others, because they have shared their universes. But it seems a bit strange to me if this message board has a problem with copying and pasting text from Word. Otherwise, I have to type all the post in directly, which is not ideal as the post I was trying to paste into the thread took me about 2 hours to compose. I guess I can just keep putting attachments there, but I think people would rather just read the posts on the screen, one after the other, instead of having to open attachments.

Thanks.

Save it out as a text file first, then cut and paste it from Notepad.

Word will add all kinds of invisible **** you won't see until you do exactly what you just did.

Whenever I use anything for dynasties, I just use Notepad to begin with and then do whatever formatting (bold, underline, etc.) I need to do after I paste it in. As bone said, Word is not a plain text enviroment. If you copy and paste from it, you get all kinds of weirdness.

If you're having formated text in Word or any other "big" text editor, and you want to copy it to the board or to Outlook or whatever without copying the format info, just open Windows' Notepad, insert the text that you want to copy, and then copy it from notepad to the target.
