Career Stage change?
OK, I just picked up on this last night. I ran a bout with an active, post prime fighter and a retired fighter, that I set to post prime during the fight set up. After the bout I read the bout log and the prefight comments had the active fighter set to prime (the retired fighter stayed at post prime). Is this just a typo in the log or is the program changing my fighters career stage?

Correct Cap but that's not what Bronx is saying.
Bronx, I've noticed that before, but I believe that the stages are being applied correctly in the actual fight. Worth checking again though Cheers, Mark

As long as the correct stage is being applied during the bout, the bout log really doesn't matter I supppose.
I guess it's just one of those "things". Thanks for the input. Last edited by Bronx Bomber 15 : 12-11-2004 at 02:16 AM. |

If I understand this correctly,
The career stages do not effect active fighters. It does effect fighters that are set to retired. Thus if you REALLY want to approximate ageing, you must set all of your fighters to retired then place their career stage where ever you want them. Could be wrong though. |

If that is the way it is set up, I do not understand why. Wouldn't it make more sense to bring fighters into a universe, designate them as "active" and then age them?
Am I missing something here? Any thoughts would be appreciated. CONN

The Trunzo's have explained their reasoning for this before. Essentially the active fighters are snap shots of a fighter who is currently fighting as they are at this point. The retired rankings are rankings of a fighters theoretical peak. Because this ranking is a fighters peak then aging formaulas are able to be applied to the ranking to reflect the fighter as a younger or older man. They are unable (or unwilling) to do this with Active fighters as the active fighters do not have a complete career arc yet to figure out what the fighter's true peak is.
My recommendation is to retire every fighter in the database and rate them to what you think their primes will be/were. If you want to shorten this process there is a button in the options screen to retire all the fighters and apply the generic aging formulas to make them all prime, but it tends to create super fighters for those boxers who aren't that far from their prime condition (such as Bernard Hopkins). Hope that was somewhat clearer than mud, Mark
