Dig the name. Just hope the acronym doesn't get it confused with the magazine.

Hey, if someone searches on FHM, finds our game and says "Oooh, a hockey sim! Me likey!" then that works for us.

I'm excited.

But I can't remember--will there be a "real-time" graphic game engine (2D or 3D), or will it be text based?

And to be honest, I'm not crazy about the name, but if the game is good, it could be called "Potato Hockey Manager" for all I care; I'll still buy it.

I never "got" Eastside. I think Franchise Hockey Manager will be just fine.

I can't wait to see what's in store!

I hope an EHM-style 2D mode is added eventually (love those dots), but I'm sure the first version will be incredibly addicting without it.

If I'm not wrong, the Eastside in EHM came from Riz living in the east part of whichever town he grew up in... Really random I know...

To me, Eastside Hockey Manager had kind of an organic, cozy feel to it. Franchise Hockey Manager seems a bit too formulaic--too sterile. It's not a bad name, it just doesn't have the same ring.

I know--it sounds stupid, and the proof is in the playing, there's just something about it...

Believe me, it was a very loooong search for the name. We had at least 3 or 4 different ones during the last few month. One was already taken, then we decided on another one (all liked it), I renamed the project and when we met to speak about the logo Markus did not like the name (anymore, he swears, that he never approved it ).

I understand that the name will not appeal to everyone but it is the game that counts, the name is just words on the screen.

I'm hoping this game will be end up being a lot better than Maxim Hockey Manager.

Sorry.

Well, I think the name is fine, makes perfect sense considering what the game is about and therefore is easy to remember so it does everything you'd want it to do. Everyone that hears it will know exactly what kind of a game it is, which personally I think is a good thing. So let up on the negativity here ok?

And now I want screenies!

Sebastian makes the critical point. The game itself is the main aspect and not the name.

I think with 'Eastside' or EHM we're just so used to that game and everything about it we're always going to compare this to that. This new game is obviously going to be alot better then our beloved EHM. As Sebastian said the name is just words on the screen. Somebody trying to search Google say for a hockey game should find Franchise abit easy then Eastside so it works out better for the OOTPD team in that sense too!

Regarding the match engine. Personally I don't think the game needs one. Obviously I'm a fan of making sure the actual game and everything about it is working rather then some fancy graphics - yet if the team does deicde to include a match engine I'm not going to complain either

Other then that... any news on what languages the game will ship with? Just English I presume?

Love the logo! Name sounds fine to me but there's nothing in a name anyhow. I'm really excited for this. Definitely going to be a Day 1 purchase for me. I probably won't start my official fictional league right away because I know there will be a fair amount of bugs at the start and also I'll need to wait for the community to make custom logos and jerseys for fictional teams for me first.
