Installing the Game

OOTP uses a straightforward installation program on all platforms. Follow the instructions here to get OOTP up and running:

• Install OOTP on a PC
• Install OOTP on a Mac
• Install OOTP on Linux

Installing OOTP on a PC

To install OOTP on a PC, follow these steps:

1. Download the game. After this step is completed, you should have a file called ootp10setup.exe saved somewhere on your computer.
2. Double-click the .exe file. The setup program will launch and bring you to the Welcome screen. Click the Next button to continue with the installation. You will be taken to the License Agreement page.
3. Read the License Agreement. Click the 'I agree' radio button, and then click Next to continue. You will be taken to the Installation Folder page.
4. If you want to use the default destination folder, click Next and skip to Step 6 below. If you want to change the destination folder, click the Change button. You will be taken to another page.
5. Select the installation directory you wish to use, or use the Make New Folder to create a new one, and then click OK. Click Next to proceed.


Note: A default OOTP installation installs files in several different areas of your computer. If you choose to install in a directory other than the default, all files will be stored in the new directory. See what gets installed where for more information.

6. Choose a shortcut folder ("program group") for the game to use, and whether these shortcuts should be available for all users or just the current users.
7. On the Ready to Install screen, confirm the settings you have selected, and then click Next to begin the installation. During the install process, you will see a progress meter.
8. When the install is complete, you will see a completion message. Click Finish to complete the installation. A shortcut to the game will be placed on your Desktop, and in the shortcut location you specified, (by default, Start | All Programs | Out of the Park Developments | OOTP Baseball 10).
9. Double-click the OOTP 10 icon to launch the game. If you have not yet purchased a license, you can do so now, or you can play the game in demo mode. If you have already purchased a license, install your license.

Installing OOTP on a Mac

To install OOTP on a Mac, follow these steps:

1. Download the game. After this step is completed, you should have a file called ootp10macsetup.zip saved somewhere on your computer. Double-click the .zip file to unzip it.
2. A new folder will be created called OOTP 10 Install. Open this folder and double-click the program called "OOTP 10 Installer." A 'splash' page will display.
3. On the Select Options screen, choose where you would like to install the game. If you leave the "Use default folders" box checked, OOTP will be installed in your Applications folder. Choose whether or not you want a shortcut on your desktop, and then click Install.
4. The game will be installed. This might take a few minutes.
5. When the installation is complete, click on the Finish button. The game will be placed in the destination folder you defined during the installation.
6. Double-click the OOTP 10 icon to launch the game. If you have not yet purchased a license, you can do so now, or you can play the game in demo mode. If you have already purchased a license, install your license.

Installing OOTP on Linux

To install the game on Linux, follow these steps:

1. Download the game. After this step is completed, you should have a file called ootplinuxinstall.tar.gz saved somewhere on your computer. (We suggest you place this file in the temp directory under your user's home directory.)
2. Using a file browser, navigate to the above mentioned file and double-click to untar the contents. (This can be done manually from the CLI, if desired.)
3. After untarring the download file, you will have a directory named OOTPBaseballInstaller. Navigate to this location.
4. Inside OOTPBaseballInstaller, you will find a file named LinuxInstaller. Double-click this file. The setup program will launch and bring you to the License Agreement page.
5. Read the License Agreement. Click the 'I agree' radio button. You will be taken to the Installation Folder page.
6. If you want to use the default destination folder (highly recommended), you can just select the desired shortcuts you want. Click Install and skip to Step 8 below.
7. If you want to change the destination folder, modify the path as appropriate, and click Install.
8. The installation program will start. Sit back and relax as it completes the installation.
9. When the installation completes, click the Finish button. You are ready to start enjoying some baseball goodness!
10. Double-click the OOTP 10 icon to launch the game. If you have not yet purchased a license, you can do so now, or you can play the game in demo mode. If you have already purchased a license, install your license.
