Inside the Park baseball is complex but not complicated. It’s simple to play and you can begin your baseball career minutes after installing the game. However, there is considerable depth to this unique approach to a baseball simulation. For example, the ITPNET (which can be found in the internet café) offers just about any information of your league that you can imagine, from thousands of stats to news stories, transaction reports or even record books!

Taking the approach that has long been favored by fantasy role-playing games, Inside the Park allows you to increase your ratings and skills by improving as a ballplayer and earning the kind of money needed to buy “special” equipment that enhances your abilities: bats that add power but reduce contact (like the almost mythical bat “Hammer Hawk”, which adds 8 power points AND 17 contact points to your abilities but decreases your Gap Power by 3 points). However, just because you find a great piece of equipment doesn’t mean you can automatically use it. Skill requirement must be met. For example, unless you have a minimum Power level of 50 and Contact level of 70, you won’t be swinging “Hammer Hawk” even if you have the money to buy it. Pitcher will have to purchase selected books and study them in order to faster develop their skills!

Hitting, fielding and pitching all have wonderfully creative pieces of equipment that you’ll want to use. But it will be up to you to decide what trade-offs you wish to make, when to invest in what equipment, and how you can most quickly accomplish your primary goal – making it to the Bigs and have a long productive career in the spotlight!
