OOTP 16's fifth update, released May 25, includes:

  • Updated rosters (you need to start a new game to see the changes)
  • Support for the WEBP image format for stadium pictures and 3D textures, which cuts the download size by several hundred megabytes
  • A new option that lets you save and name up to 100 custom lineups and use them in many places, including the pre-game options screen, the 7-day lineups screen, the main lineups screen, etc.
  • A variety of fixes and improvements

Check out the post on our forum for all the details. (If you have the Steam or Mac App Store version, please don't download this update from our forum - You'll need to update through Steam or the Mac App Store.)

MLB Manager 2015's second update, which was released on April 29, includes final Opening Day rosters (new game required to use them), bug fixes, and, by popular demand, the return of the quotes and trivia items during loading and saving.

Sean Lahman: Building Baseball History, One Stat at a Time

If you've been playing OOTP for a while, you probably know Sean Lahman's name: He created the historical player stats database that the game uses, and he helped give OOTP plenty of exposure during its early years. We thought we'd drop him a line and learn more about his career.

"I was blown away within 15 seconds," he says of the first time he laid his eyes on OOTP 1 way back in 1999. Find out why in the latest interview on our blog.

By the way, Lahman enjoys playing historical seasons in OOTP, and a new blog called Bullpen By Committee recently took a look at Charlie Ferguson, a Philadelphia Quakers pitcher whose career could have rivaled Cy Young's when it began in 1884. Sadly, he died of typhoid fever in 1888, leaving a huge "What if?" question behind. Bullpen By Committee used OOTP 16 to answer that question, with impressive results.

Now Playing: Our New Tutorial Videos

If you're new to OOTP and could use a video overview of how to run your team, you're in luck: We're in the process of creating a series of videos that dig into the game's many features. We've posted the first two on our YouTube channel: The first one covers the basics, and the second one discusses calling the shots from the dugout during games.
