Web Hosting
Hello. I am the commissioner of TFBL. Unfortunately our web hosting company has shut down and flown away overnite leaving us homeless. If you know of a good web hosting service or have space we can use I would appreciate it. I can be reached here or through e-mail at rickherrerajr@hotmail.com. Thanks.

Rick,
The best pay hosting service I have found is The Host Factory 9.99/ month gets you plenty of space for a league, plus that includes LOTS of add-ons like message boards, free email@yourdomain, MySQL, banner rotators, and many, many more. Gil, the owner, is a great guy and really helpful if needed. |

From experience I always reccomend Affordablehost - http://www.affordablehost.com, people there are very helpful, and you can get a decent account for $50 a year.

Cooley had a great idea, but heres one I have, if you want a domain go to Below10Host.com you get sub-domains, pop e-mail, PHP, CGI, etc...
You name it they probably have it. They have three plans all under 10 bucks. It's worth checking out. |

I use http://www.powweb.com , and for $7.77/mo, it's hard to beat.

I will not comment further, but the Host Factory screwed me pretty bad a while back. There is no way I could suggest them.

There are two "The Host Factories"
One is at www.thehostfactory.com and the other is at www.hostfactory.com I'd be willing to bet that the one you speak of is not the one I use as I've had NO problems whatsoever from them. Its a small company and the guy who runs it is VERY helpful. |

Well, I won't air dirty laundry out here. My main reason for posting was to let everyone know that I had MAJOR problems with them. If you'd like to hear more specifics, contact me privately. This will be my last comment on this subject.

Well thanks for the help everybody. I fortunately got my problem resolved though. Apparently my hosting service decided to do a server migration this weekend and failed to tell anybody leaving me in the dark until I could contact them this week. Now, after 5 gray hairs, I'm back in business.

Guys just a general question here on web hosting. For a league just starting out would it be better to go with a Free Web Hosting service?
With that in mind are there any Free ones even worth the hassle? Thanks ahead of time. -James |

It's probably a good idea to go with a free service at first and if you are willing to spend the money on a hosting service and domain name rental you can take it to that level when you feel the league is ready. No reason to buy a domain name right off the bat though, build interest in your league and then invest your money wisely.
