Importing 11 to 12

I was just wondering how smooth the importing process is from version to version. Do features found in the new version import well to the older version? Or are the problems? Thank you.

AZ, I've always found the transition from one version to the next pretty smooth...I wait until the playoffs are over, make a backup copy of the league and sim a season or two in the new edition to make sure that nothing has altered drastically, but it might be worth doing a search because there have been several threads on this topic and there's quite a lot of advice that would be worth checking on. For instance, quite a few have imported to the new version mid-season and have found no problems whatsoever, I think Markus recommended waiting until the off season many versions ago and I've stuck with that!

I'd imagine you might have some tweaking to do for numbers (i.e. some financial or other factors like "fan loyalty" might be changed or expanded) but I imported an OOTP8 season into 11 when it came out with no problems at all.

Along with Simmo13's great advice, I'd also recommend you note whatever options and settings you have that are important to you, and after you import the league, check to insure those options and settings haven't been changed.

Off-season is indeed the best time to do it - less chance of ruining a season through unwanted changes or file corruption.

There isn't really a "best" time to do it, but there is definitely a best option - do a BACK-UP of your league before converting. Can't stress that enough, have seen plenty of people who don't back-up their leagues before converting.

That way, if anything does mess up, you back is covered. Whether you do it mid season or off season, there's no more risk to having problems with either choice. You can ruin a season just as easily during the off season as you can in the middle of the season.
