Why Is My Draft Pool So Borked? (AKA My 42-year-old HS Senior)

Man, what have I done here?

My amateur draft pool is ridiculous.

I'll add that I altered no age modifiers in my league settings. I did change plenty of other things, but nothing (that I'm aware of) to do with age.

What settings would change player ages indirectly? I didn't use any age modifiers at all.

Off the top of my head, I changed the number of games played in a season (to 160), disabled the Rule 5 Draft, filled the minors with fictional players (not sure where to find the ghost player setting that used to be in 13), imported 2014 settings into a game that started in the year 2000, and messed around with some player settings in regard to pitcher stamina/pinch-hitting tendencies/stolen base attempts, etc.

I don't remember adjusting anything else.

I'm thinking they're Longest Yard types that have been early paroled and now have their GEDs. That's a loose definition of "high school", but this seems like quite a bug.

Also, I don't have any feeders (that I can see, anyway). Could that be the problem?

Got through the 1st year ammy draft. Going to see if maybe it sorts itself by next season. If not, then reporting bug.

It looks like you changed "Amateur Draft Pool Origin" in League Settings. The default allows players only from the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada, plus 1.0% "random origin". Maybe there's some non-obvious reason why that change affected player's ages. Or maybe, when 2014 settings were imported into "a game that started in the year 2000", 14 years were added to the prospects' ages.

I like your latter theory. I think the math makes sense there. That begs the question of whether next season it will correct itself. Hopefully so.

A 42 Year Old High School Senior is most likely a product of Common Core or an Illegal Alien.

Do you have foreign leagues? There's an option to allow players from a foreign league to feed another league. I don't know the exact mechanics, as I don't use it myself, but the option is on the foreign league's "League Settings" tab, and then on its "Rules" page. Lower right corner.

Hope this helps!

Thank you. so49as. Looks as if none of my leagues is feeding another. I have three major league equivalents, each with four levels of minors. The major leagues are all from different regions, and have different reputations, but do not feed one another.

Coming into Spring Training for 2001 (2nd year), so we'll see how it goes.

This might be a stupid question, but is this an issue of a lack of a Created Players Age Maximum? If you have it blank or at 0, I believe that ignores any maximum, and thus results in the situation of creating players over the age of 40.

Not a stupid question. Thanks for the input, chucksabr.

I did nothing to change the default settings for created players age modifiers. It is blank/0.

What should it be?

And why is the default allowing for 40+-year-old HS prospects (or 21+, for that matter)? That seems like a pretty big oversight that should've been snagged in beta.

Doesn't seem right...

But I'll know more (hopefully tonight - if the game is bad I'll definitely know ).

Yes. Well, I mean I unchecked the inaugural draft in all three leagues. Is that what it is? Again, that's a strange "feature" if unchecking the option makes the next ammy pool closer to social security checks than birth.

It could be it. I seem to recall something like this happening to me in OOTP 14 when i was experimenting. But i could be recalling wrong.
