Bickering in clubhouse
Not sure how to address this; playing as GM only, and this is the first time I've encountered this. 7 players are upset about this, but not sure who is causing the bickering. |

How is the leadership in your clubhouse(how many players have high leadership)? I haven't gotten that message about bickering, but at the same time I have a few players with high leadership, which I believe helps fight in house fights.

I'm not even sure how to measure that, outside of clicking each player's BNN page. Just received another email
The team is tailspinning and I wonder if this is contributing in some way. Half of my 25 man roster has this listed on their morale tab. I just don't know what to do about this, or at least find out who is causing the bickering. Again, I'm GM only; maybe I need more managerial control to address this, but I'm not sure why I'd be getting these emails from players asking me to do something about this. |

What are the traits of your manager like? Maybe you need an old fashioned, no nonsense kind of guy instead of a live and let live sort to control your team.

I think you're on to something. This is my manager's style/attributes:
So I'm thinking the combination of this manager style and some of the player personalities have led to this situation. Interesting. I'm not sure why I get emails asking me to do something about this though. I'm GM only, and I have no idea which players are causing said ruckus. Not sure what I could be doing.... |

Dyzalot might be correct too, and you may have the wrong type of coaching personality for your team. I'm pretty interested in this thread since it's the first time I've seen clubhouse negativity become an issue, and I'm curious to know what we as players need to do to influence better behavior.

Right. So do different players mesh better/worse with players on your 25 man, and if so, how do you monitor or predict this? Maybe you don't sign that 3rd starter because your 2nd baseman and left fielder, who both are leaders, thinks he's a douche. But how do you know this?

![]() This is what my clubhouse leadership makeup looks like ![]() For monitoring, maybe see if you can sign/trade/call up a couple players with high leadership. I don't think they necessarily have to be stars or starters, but their presence is important regardless. I wonder if the player causing problems is rated low in leadership(and maybe work ethic?). I wish I had a definite answer to this, but if I was in the same position as you I'd bring in a few leaders to the team and see if that remedies the problem.

A combination of strong leadership in the clubhouse say and finding out the people causing the trouble will solve the issue. The atmosphere in the clubhouse can also be influenced by the personality type of your manager.
An example of this was in a save game I had with Astros in the eighties when I signed a pitcher - Len Barker- to the team, while Barker went onto to have a good season, I noticed the team chemistry went south and the team performances started to slip and we ended up worse off with him than without. Nearly every week someone complained. I checked the morale of each player and it indicated why people were unhappy, while they never named Barker, I made a note of who had complained and who hadn't. Then double checked the personalities of those who hadn't complained and easily saw Barker's personality was "clubhouse cancer" - a bit harsh but there it was. I removed him in the offseason and the team chemistry returned, ever since then I make sure I have strong leaders in the clubhouse and before signing someone check their personality because it can have an effect. Nice addition to the game |

If you read the personalities of the players, that will likely give you an indication. If the text sounds like he might be a troublemaker, then you gotta value his worth on the team

As a GM one of your options is to replace the manager if his laid back style is hurting the team with tension in the clubhouse. I would first look to the players however.

Crazy. Every player on my 25 m roster is Angry about team chemistry and upset with the disruptive influences on the team. So I ran a personality list and looked at the players that were very low on leadership. Found a guy that had the lowest leadership rating and work ethic rating, and a very low loyalty rating.
I think I found the rat. |

I'm not sure Hernandez is your problem. If he has a very low leadership rating, then he is probably not influential enough to cause fighting and friction, at least among factions. He's probably a loner with an attitude problem, and since no one follows him, he should be easy to squash.
I think what you need to look for is a veteran leader who is a disruptive force on the team and potentially dump him, but you also need a manager in the clubhouse with a long track record and who can control these situations. Maybe not a total hard-ass disciplinarian, if that can add fuel to the fire in a game like this, but someone with a strong personality who is comfortable handling veterans, perhaps even more so than younger players. |

Very good points. We have a relatively young team, and I'm loathe to resign aging vets to large extensions typically. So a hard assed veteran manager probably isn't a bad idea. Another layer to consider when shopping for a manager. Great addition for immersion in this version! As opposed to just sorting and hiring the guy with the most Legendary reps.
Well, I sent Hernandez down, and now all of our players are "upset that outspoken players are dragging the team down". W.T.F. I have 2 relievers that "will always speak his mind". Leadership is low for the 24 yr old and normal for the other one, a 28 yr old. I also have a 28 yr old OF w/ normal leadership that "has no filter for his comments". Sounds more ominous. |

So, how do you get your asst GM to send you updates? Am I missing something in the setup or Manager's office settings? |
