Rosters - I do not get it???

First, let mme apologize for this rant in advance. I do not understand how you can advertise complete rosters with the game and not send them. I have purchased every release over the past few years including the half release last year for the rosters which never worked. I am so disappointed. Players are not at the correct level of minors. I just spent over 2 hours moving players between the Major league, AAA and AA, updating all uniform numbers, setting pitching rotations and lineups. This was just for ONE Organization. At 2 hours and org I will be here for over 60 hours just trying to prepare the game for semi-use. I dont want to do this again, that is why I again paid for the new version of the game. Then I noticed that about 1/5th of the players had no ratings and the ones with ratings in the minors were bogus. I play out every game with every team. I started to fix the Red Sox organization because they are part of the first game of the season. Look at their players. The highest steal rating for the players the have played on Pawtucket goes to Jed Lowrie who I believe has Zero steals. Bobby Kielty had the highest power rating. Multiple players like Joe thurston have no ratings at all. Why do all of these players have a high catcher rating? I cannot believe I spent HOURS setting these rosters up and I have to rework all of these players anyway - And then do that for every team in every organization. Another version that is unplayable! I want to say that the game is GREAT - the best game out there, but those of us who will only play with real players need a roster set that works like it has been promised over the past two releases. Without a good roster set the game is unplayable.

Did you update them to today, or to Opening Day?

It's true. I am sad to say that the MLB roster has a LOT of issues.

I'm confused, are we talking MLB or Minor League Rosters?

Unless you plan on controlling every team, won't the AI just readjust the rosters again making all that work you did meaningless?

You guys understand that the CPU AI will place the players where it thinks they should go, regardless of what you think should be right? Right?

Exactly, which is why I learned a while ago that fictional is the way to go!

In theory, you could act as commish and block teams from making moves. You don't even get that chance with this file because there are already clubs who have 3 or 4 players on their AAA roster.

That's not mentioning the issues with ratings.

Look, I am not just another whiner. I've bought every OOTP game since 4. And with 7/8/9, it's just been frustrating to try and create a realistic MLB roster that doesn't have some kind of major issue. Obviously it's tough when even dedicated roster creators struggle with it.

Yes, I like fictional leagues, too. But I would love to play with a real (or close to real) MLB/MiLB roster. And that's still going to be tough for some time with OOTP9, it seems.

As far as the ratings go, are you just looking at the OSA ratings? Or are you looking at them in commish mode?

Commish mode. I definitely understand the effect that scouting has on the ratings.

Again, I just want to make clear that I think this is a very strong game. And I know how impossibly difficult it is to create anything resembling a real roster.

I play in commish mode, block all AI transactions and control every team at every level - I do this to block the computer from amking any decisions. Yes I am looking at the numbers in commish mode and they are lacking at best for the minor league players. The major league players ratings seem pretty good. The minor leagues are a mess - Very frusterasting. These rosters / players are a mess - At this point unplayable.

The biggest issue is well over 2/3s of the minor leaguers are in this set in name only and have nowhere near their correct ratings, its not even close enough to say its is a diffence in opinion. Colby Rasmus is a prime example. In real life he went to spring training with a chance to make the big league club.. in the rosters he gets a possibly ready for AAA when you look at the system report.

I saw a post by Markus leading up to the release that has me thinking that roster makers are not on the same page as he is with the ratings. there are too many really really low rated guys in both the bigs and minors

But Markus stats aren't the only thing. This guy is a highly regarded prospect regardless of what he's done in 1/3 of a season.

I'm sorry, but people are always going to disagree on ratings. I mean and how exactly are you supposed to rate minor leaguers who you have no idea how they will pan out in real life?

I'm not sure if expectations were set too high for rosters, because I don't use em, but I have looked at them. I myself would never expect a 100% accurate minor league system.
