1968 Topps template (base only) now available!

I hope these turned out okay. Pretty bare bones, just the base set, no color variants.

Enjoy!

EDIT: New .xml file, now uses all caps font for more realistic look. Posted here: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ml#post3717195

This is one of those you look at and wonder why it took us so long to have someone make it. Thanks TSG!

Question about cards: I downloaded the 74 Topps set, but when I create a card the player's image is WAY zoomed in, so that all you see is face, neck, and shoulders. I think that template was created for ver 11...is that the issue?

The 74 Topps doesn't have the facegen_zoom=" " in the player picture element. Without it it's is based on whatever your in-game zoom setting are set to. If you open the xml in Notepad and go to line 9 you can add facegen_zoom="out" to the element tag and see if that helps. It should look like this:

<ELEMENT type="image" x="6" y="36" zorder="1" width="206" height="242" content="PICTURE" facegen_zoom="out" />

I change all of my downloaded templates to match this.

Since all the cardmakers are here...what sets are MOST complete? As in, they have unique default, all star, manager, rookie, all star and HOF.

I personally love Allen and Ginter, and the 1959 Topps, great job by fhomess and klavier on those

I was looking for a more modern set, especially with the Donruss and the Diamond King cards, but seems they got a bit generic over time, which is understandable but such a shame...baseball cards were great back in the day, especially with the chalk gum covering on them

and I always change my settings for cards to "OUT more jersey" and the other option to random in the game settings BUB13

Thanks! I thought it was probably an xml issue, something that needed to be added to the code.

Now if someone can come up with a "smell setting" so I can relive that "fresh" bubble gum smell, or the mustard I spilled on my '78 Paul Moskau card at a Richmond Braves game way back when.

Originally, I had planned to do the 1968 Topps Sporting News All-Star cards - easy enough design to do and all. But the backs were puzzle pieces...so I didn't want to make my own card back off the top of my head. I suppose I could have, though.

Edit: 1989 Donruss is, IMHO, my best work. I even made the Diamond Kings (borrowing heavily from klavier's 1987 and 1988 Diamond Kings designs), with my own original 1980's-Diamond King-sounding text on the backs. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...templates.html

Most of the 80's and 2000's cards available should have unique as, hof and award versions

A lot of the older sets didn't have them. I don't much care for making versions of cards from real sets that didn't exist, but some of the others do it.

Sorry I should have emphasized unique, as the 2000's cards DO have all the awards and such, but usually they are just different colors or the same as default with ALL STAR somewhere.

No slight on you guys, I blame the baseball card industry. They got pretty lazy around the mid nineties (no surprise) or maybe I am just nostalgic where a Topps 80's rookie card was eye popping unique or Donruss 90's card had the Diamond Kings format

BTW, found this might help you guys as I see no 40's cards but they looked pretty neat

Any plans for 1994 Topps or Score? I'm thinking about doing the Score ones, but I worry they may be beyond my capabilities with GIMP. If I could get somebody to do the images, I could probably do the xml, though.

I think maybe we should have a stickied thread for answering baseball card questions. We could include in it the cards we're working on so people don't overlap. In the meantime, I have opened up my baseball card wiki page for registration. If you sign up for it as a user, send me a PM and I'll give access to let people edit that page.

Additionally, here's what I've been working on lately:

1956 Topps:

My efforts to get the white border around the head shot are being foiled by Orosco's black hat!

1958 Topps:

Anyone know what fonts we can use on these? It seems like we've lost some font options over the years.

I believe commando is the only one that has been removed (back in 13). The vera, vera_bd and bold fonts were renamed in 14 and are now regular, bold and b_bold, respectively. The Medium is in between Regular and Bold and I don't remember what Condensed is. Amaze, College and Ball are the same as before.

Those cards look great fhomess.

I used commando in one of my BUNT templates as I think it was you who said it didn't have a hyphen. It seems to look fine.

Sorry, I should have been more clear that that was how I did it once back in v11 and that the commando font had been removed from the game. The vertical text in your BUNT card isn't the commando font, it was a bold and slanted font. If you check out BMW's 1987 Topps thread he should have an example of the commando font with the player name on the front. I am glad to see that you were able to get the vertical text without hyphens with one of the other fonts though.

Andreas or Bigrod can give a more definitive answer but I believe if you set the font_name to something other than what the game allows it will just use the Regular font (which is what the BUNT vertical text looks like).
