Fictional Fast-Sim Quickstart with 270+ years of history, logos & uniforms (OOTP15)

This is my ongoing fast-sim solo league that I started back in 2008 and have been actively managing through versions 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and now OOTP 15. [phew]

Fast-sim means that injuries are off, fatigue is low (though you could increase it) and after the off-season ends, the teams are set not to allow AI changes and I sim the entire season at once, then allow teams to make changes during the off-season.

The past few years, I've only played cursory amounts of this game beyond beta. Just got busy with real life. But this year, I got back into it slowly. Thanks to txranger and knuckler, I got some new logos for teams and all of a sudden, it felt like a place I wanted to hang out. Most of the teams are original to this league, but a few are from the knuckler/txranger collaboration because some of the names were SO good that I couldn't resist. Some are retrofitted from that world, too.

So after a contraction about 40 years ago, the league is now back to 36 teams (two 18 team leagues, 3 divisions of six teams) and the playoffs involve 16 teams (7-7-7-7) which gives everyone a chance, but cuts down on as many flukes.

The league is in better shape than it's ever been before. Records have been broken, older guys last if they are good and there is a good influx of talent that dominate without it being too overwhelming. Stats are consistent and 1 and 2 star players are actually able to contribute.

Wanna play? Here's the latest link to the quickstart (2 December 2014) here:

Here are a smattering of some of the league logos.

Here are the teams en masse:

I've been looking for someone to do this. I would do it myself but I just don't have the time. Having 11 month old twins and a three year old keeps me kind of busy.

Thanks!

You know, I was hoping that people would appreciate it precisely for that reason. So I'm glad I put decided to release it to the public.

Hope you enjoy it!

This interests me a lot. I was struggling with what to play in v11. I'll give it a try.

Thanks for doing this.

Thank you so much! I've been looking for something like this. I have started 4 leagues myself so far just haven't found the right mix yet.

Thanks. I will give it a try and let you know what I think.

is it possible for you to post this in a previous season?
say before 2001, the Seattle franchise that has 12 championships goes under then or even previous years then that?

In the package you have a subfolder called "incident_2010-04-09 22_13_00".

I think it contains just some security backup the game created after a crash during your testing.

This subfolder can be safely deleted so you can repackage the quickstart, because this backup folder alone is 280 MB!

EDIT: and you can delete the autosave, file and import-export subfolders too! Another 280 MB.

No, I just uploaded it at a point when I'd played it last. And not now because that computer it was originally on is toast.

I reuploaded this to the web when the original link stopped working.

You can get it here. It's a very large template file(nearly 600MB), but it's worth it.

For some reason I can not get the quick start to load. So I am going to set up my own solo league like that. Do you have Enable Suspensions or Enable Drug-Suspensions checked? You do not have Coaching or Scouting I assume.

I tried again and its loading now.

I got it to work finally. I made a folder called Fool.lg and copied everything but description.txt, the File folder, and the incident folder from the Fool-D.quick to the folder Fool.lg. It loaded in the game fine. I see the logos and all. The games date is 03/01/2012.

The quick was created on a PC and I had to do this in order for it to work on my MAC.

Ok, here's the OOTP12 version of this same quickstart. I renamed it to Day To Day Baseball (because of how I sim)

We're at 24 teams now, due to some contract and modern expansion due to the atrophy of some of teams/staleness. I figure this gives me (and you!) the flexibility to add teams as you want to have essentially a chance to build even more history with a different set of clubs. Just two divisions in each league and two rounds of playoffs (7-9) should make things more competitive, but fun as well.

So things should be easier to get immersed with and I've personally found it more fun to play now than ever. Best of all, the file I've uploaded is in a .zip file with the folder to install into your OOTP Quickstarts directory and it's only about 59MB, so a lot less time downloading and more time playing.

Check it out and let me know if you have question.
