Question
Is there an easy way to get current rosters into a fictional league? If so can someone help. I seem to be struggling at this process.

Yeah it can be done but it's not exactly easy. Depending on which teams you want the real players to go to will determine how much work you will have to do. Any way you look at it, you'll have to export the real rosters and the fictional rosters and edit them in Excel.
Here's the basics: In each league, go to Game Settings, then League Settings and click Export (league name) Rosters. The rosters will be exported to text files in the import_export folders of each league. Open Excel and open those text files with it. When the Text Import wizard comes up for each file, click the box by Delimited then click Next, then click both Tab and Comma on the second step and then click Finish. Both files will open up and you can edit them easily this way. Now comes the tricky part. If you want the real players to go to certain fictional teams, you'll have to copy and paste from the real rosters to the fictional ones. Just copy and paste from their last names on. DO NOT copy and paste the player IDs, team IDs, or team names from one file to the other. If the player IDs are not present in the fictional league, then the players won't import correctly. So, basically, all you would be doing is copying a new player onto each existing player ID. But, that will take some time to get it all done. However, if you are going to do an inaugural/fantasy draft with the real players, then that will not be time-consuming at all. Just click the arrow above Row 1 and beside Column A to highlight all the players in each file, then click Sort & Filter, then Custom Sort, then sort by Column E, Values, Order A to Z. Then Add Level, sort by Column F, Values, Order A to Z. Then click OK. All the players in both files should be alphabetized now. All you have to do now is make sure you have the same number of fictional players as real players. Then you can copy and paste all the real players onto the fictional players all at once. Just remember to not copy other over player IDs, team IDs, and team names. Once you have done all that, save the fictional file as a .csv file in the import_export folder then import it back into your game. Come to think of it, an easier way may just to be create a new game from the MLB 2016 quickstart and then edit all the team names to what you want. Of course, you will have to change all the team info (ballpark name, etc.) and you will still have MLB teams' histories. But, if you can live with all of that, then that is your easiest route. But, if you want the fictional teams to have their own histories, then one of the file editing options is your best bet. Hope this helps, my friend. |

maybe this will work:
1) start 2016 season and put all players into FA. 2) save that template 3) start fictional league then import that template. 4) delete the MLB teams if my thinking is correct (which is questionable at best) you SHOULD have a fictional league with real 2016 MLB players. Is that what youre wanting? |
