Introducing the Fox Open Sports Platform
![]() The Fox Open Sports Platform Well it’s been almost a year since version 0.2 of the OOWP was released so I think it’s time to give a little update on the state of the project. Despite both an extended summer break and then an almost six month hiatus when I got burned out in October, I did jump on a number of important changes for a version 0.3 release for this project last year. These included starting to rework the Open Web Toolkit into a library of sports and sim agnostic functions and tools. This went pretty well and was starting to get in good shape before I packed it in for the winter (a long cold one at that). I thank the OOTP 14 beta for waking me up and getting me excited about this project again (mostly due to the SQL dump enhancements). I’m also very glad to announce that a 0.3 release was a lot further along than I had originally thought and is now due to arrive on Monday October 28, 2013! Here’s what’s coming in this exciting 0.3 update: A new name and direction The library has already undergone two name changes (OOTP Open Web Dashboard and OOWP) as I’ve refined and changed the focus of the project, and the new name reflects a move to an even more open direction. It illustrates that the platform not only supports the development of web mods for Out of the Park Baseball, but is now being expanded to include any other sports sims that allow for SQL data exports. NOTE: The first non-baseball game I hope to integrate with will be the forthcoming Franchise Hockey Manager and I've already reached out to JeffR and Sebastian about that. Changes to the platform include:
So there’s actually quite a bit ending up in this release. You can read more in depth descriptions of the changes on my development blog. Have any specific requests? Is there something you'd love to have presented for your league that's too much effort of hard to figure out with other CMS tools? Would you participate as a beta test site and provide valuable feedback for the development of the platform? Let me know.

A couple questions I received lately:
Is the FOSP compatible with Getch's utilities? No. Getch's Utilities use CSV dumps from the game. The FOSP uses MySQL data dumps for stats, which make it compatible with StatsLab, not the OU. If you use Getch's utilities, you will have to do both a CSV and MySQL dump to use the FOSP. My vision when starting this project was that we could use the FOSP to share data access and basic functionality and add custom league tools collaboratively, but as yet, the FOSP is still a separate project. Can I run my online league with this tool? The platform supports managing news articles and user comments, matching game owners with real life players, showing your sim schedule, displaying box scores and upcoming games, player stats, has basic playoffs coverage and can be used to manage storylines. If thats enough, then yes it can. StatsLab and Getch's tools can still be used alongside the FOSP to use their functionality. If your handy with PHP and JavaScript code, additional custom, tools can be added pretty easily and I have a tutorial up on how to do so. I'd love to see what ideas others in the community have for tools for this platform.

Fox Open Sports Platform 0.3 Beta Released
The 0.3 version of the FOSP is now available.
Read the "README.txt" file before installing. Due to an issue with the way Bonfire 0.6 loads modules, the library must be installed in three steps. The read me files explains these steps. Hope everyone enjoys the release.

Not sure if there is still support for this project but I am continuously receiving a 500 internal service error when I enter the database info... my host is 1and1.

I'm not actively developing for it anymore but I'm certainly glad to help people try and get it running. Do you have access to your server logs to see what the server is saying the problem is? Do you know how to change PHP files to turn debugging on so you could pass and error message along? The 500 could be from a number of things so would need more info to figure this out.
You can also see the new support page I added to my web site with some tips from debugging assistance I've given some other users.
